NASCAR superstar Kasey Kahne will race at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway on Saturday, December 30, 2006 and Monday, January 1, 2007.

The exclusive signing by Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway is the culmination of twelve months negotiations and planning to secure suitable race dates in his congested NASCAR schedule to enable him to visit Australia.

“It’s just hard trying to get a super star like Kasey Kahne to find time in his NASCAR itinerary to come so far to race,” Tyrepower PCR co-owner Brian Healey said.

Kahne has squeezed in his quick visit Down Under between a tyre testing programme at Florida’s Daytona International Speedway in preparation for the 2007 NASCAR season.

"This is a major coup for Australian speedway to have a driver in the NASCAR ranks of his status racing at our venue", Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway Managing Director Steven Green said.

“Kasey is a legitimate world class motor racing star and the fans will get a great opportunity to see him race in our international sprintcar events at the height of our season.”

Kahne is well placed in the current top ten standings in the chase for the prestigious 2006 NASCAR Championship and is the most prolific winner on the title trail this season with five super speedway victories.

As an indication of how seriously he is treating this racing visit to the Parramatta venue, Kahne will bring his own sprintcar and crew for the Parramatta commitment.

Kasey Kahne will fly out of Los Angeles on December 20 to prepare for his Australian debut at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway on December 30.

I love Austrailian racing. I get excited when Speed acutally shows racing from down under. This is going to be so cool. I'm so happy for Kasey. That's a real honor for him to be going over there. Hopefully someday he'll have a chance at going over to France and race as well.

That would be pretty fantastic.

I will be SHOCKED (not shoked) if Speed doesn't do some type of coverage on this. It's pretty awesome.

Holly crap.......the boy has to be going to the one country I've always wanted to visit. But yea, unless I was to win millions in the lottery.......that one would be out of the question. But I wonder what country my uncle is in now, his job has him traveling, I'll have to check if he's there he needs to go take pics for me.

i am a bummed!!! :bam i was just in Oz 4 weeks ago...he will be there on dec. 22...don't forget that he will be there for new year's too...wow...i'm gonna see if my friends i met down there can take some pics...man wish i had the $ to go back

Does Speed show Australian racing? I know I've stumbled across it on some channel before but I couldn't figure out what it was

i know jr isnt going to be at the race...i was referring that he is going to be in Oz as well..He is not going to be there in Nov...he is leaving after the banquet..he stated on his XM radio show

I think they did last year........but I'm not totally sure
