Mayfield to run the #09 car at Phoenix & Homestead: Jeremy Mayfield, who will run the #36 360 OTC Toyota in the Nextel Cup Seires for Bill Davis Racing in 2007, will run the #09 Miccosukee Gaming Dodge for Phoenix Racing/owner James Finch at Phoenix International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway. Mayfield is running the #15 Chevy truck this weekend in the Truck Series race at Atlanta.(NASCAR.com)(10-28-2006)

The number 09 has been used by this team for several seasons, so I don't think he thought "Oh, I'd like to go run the 09 car" one day.
That's why I thought there was a certain level of irony.

When I first saw this I thought the same thing. Ever since Ray let him go, the more I hear him talk the less I like him.
I used to really pull for him, but now I just don't trust him. I feel like when Ray made the changes after last season, Jeremy was the veteran, he should have handled it like a veteran, yet he became a whiner (maybe that is the true mark of a veteran B) ).
I just hope if Kasey is close to the championship at that point that Jeremy doesn't do anything stupid.
