'Grey's' actor: I'm gay, so what?

NEW YORK (AP) -- "Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight says he's gay, but hopes people don't consider that "the most interesting part of me."

The 33-year-old actor addressed rumors of his sexuality in a statement to People magazine Thursday.

"I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I'd like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there," Knight's statement read. "While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

Knight plays Dr. George O'Malley on the popular ABC drama. A former stage actor, his television credits also include "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

Knight's "Grey's Anatomy" character, a bumbling, puppy-eyed surgeon, has long been in love with Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo).

It's like he had to "come out" because stupid f#cking Isaiah Washington made a slur about his sexuality on the set and Patrick Dempsey stood up for him and it leaked to the press. Isaiah grabbed Patrick by the throat and slammed him against a wall for sticking up for TR, too. The whole story is at www.perezhilton.com and a few other places. I hope Grey's fires Washington ASAP!

I hope he gets fired too. I have no patience for people who make discriminatory comments like Mr. Washington and Mr. Dunlap.

It's a good time in Grey's to get rid of his character so I hope the producers jump at the chance.

Burke is all pissypants on Grey's right now, so boo Isaiah Washington! I won't cry if he gets canned.

I wonder if that's why T.R. decided to reveal he's gay. This just seems like it came out of now where. And I agree, he doesn't look 33 at all!

I don't really have an opinion about Dr. Burke's character, but if what he did is true, there shouldn't be behavior like that between castmates. He may have to go.

I was watching Isaiah Washington on an episode of the Megan Mullally show and he said that Shonda Rimes basically created the character of Dr. Burke for him because he originally auditioned for Dr. McDreamy and didn't get it. Shonda liked him so much she made a new character for him..I wonder if that will have any impact on whether or not he should get fired.

I saw that Eric LaSalle is one of the people being discussed to replace him. I would love that.
