Title: i need medical advice........

KaseyFan9 - October 16, 2006 12:09 PM (GMT)
I either hurt my arm and my neck sleeping wrong or lifting a chair.

Yesterday afternoon my right arm and shoulder was hurting kinda like i slept on it wrong. I had to lift a chair at a wedding recption at church yesterday for my mother.

When i got home, my neck was hurting, kinda like a stiff neck. When I turn left, it really hurts, and it barely hurts when i turn right.

I fell asleep around 8 last night and woke up around 3 this morning in agony. My mom comes over cause she saw my light on at 530 and put this patch on my neck that was used for when she had shingles. I went back to bed for an hour and everything on my right side hurts.

Do I make myself an appointment with the doctor or go get those thermal heating pads?

Help Me Please!!!!

well normally i'd just get some heating pads and see if that works........but if you are in serious serious pain, going to a doctor to make sure you haven't hurt something really bad might be a good idea

Ditto what Christy said. Sounds like you might've just slept wrong... so the thermal pads would help the sore muscles. Maybe even take a hot bath.

But, if you ARE in a lot of pain or it doesn't just feel like a pulled muscles, maybe a trip to the doctor wouldn't be so bad.

If you don't go, and it still hurts after a few days, you may want to go be checked out.

Ditto that.. just keep an eye on it, and go to the doctor if it doesn't get any better, or if it gets worse.

ditto...i'd say if you are still hurting tomorrow to go to the docs just to be sure.

my neck was the same way the other weekend...i couldn't move it at all to the left, but it cleared up in just under a day after i used heating pads and took some ib profin.

hope you feel better

I called my doctor and she said that I should try those termnal heating pads and if it stills hurts tomorrow, then she'll make me an appointment with a chirprator.

:o A chiropractor? Wow, I've never met a doctor that would refer people to chiropractic care.

As someone that's dealing with neck and shoulder pain, I'd say seeing a chiropractor is a good idea. My chiropractor is awesome and he has really helped me to get better since my accident 2 months ago. They'll do x-rays and an exam, so if they find that it's something they can't help you with, they should be able to tell you what you should do next.

I put on a thermal heating pad last night and it helped some with my arm, but my neck still hurts.

I can turn it better than i did yesterday.

I got a thermal heating pad on now, and my dad is supposed to bring me some advil this morning.

I took advil and the pain has gone away. BOth in my neck and arm.

Me either...most MDs think chiropractors are quacks. I hope the pain is completely gone, but if you do end up at the Dr.'s office, you'll probably get flexiril for muscle relation, prednisone to reduce inflammation, and vicodin for pain. Ususally over time it clears up on it's own. Hope that helps.

I agree. I am always at the doctor's and my chiropractor's office is practically on speed dial. It could be something major, so why take the chance?

Me three.

Then again, I'm a big one to talk...my back has been bugging me for a month (gotta LOVE it when you have two kids jump on your back at the same time...oh, and they're older kids, so they're not light) and I need to make an appointment with my chiropractor...
