Kahne hopeful for Chase turnaround
SCENEDAILY - 4:50PM ET TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 26, 2006 -
Kasey Kahne says he needs to perform well to get back into championship contention. BAMBI MATTILA / NASCAR SCENEKasey Kahne is disappointed with his effort in the Chase For The Nextel Cup to date, but he's optimistic his performance will improve beginning this weekend at Kansas Speedway.
The driver of Evernham Motorsports' No. 9 Dodge finished 38th at Dover International Speedway Sunday to drop to ninth in the standings, 182 points behind leader Jeff Burton.
Kahne wrote himself off at the time, saying that he had no shot at the championship, but he now seems more optimistic about his prospects for reversing his fortunes.
"The accident last week was a devastating blow to our title hopes," Kahne said. "... We'll regroup just fine. Maybe we'll dominate the last eight races, who knows?"

just like I said on Sunday. Kasey was disappointed so he was hard on himself. He's had time ot think about it and he sees the light at the end of the tunnel is brighter than he thought

Yay for Kasey having a change in heart about himself and now seemingly more upbeat about his chances just like we are. Anything is possible in the next 8 races, especially with Talladega yet to come.

I'm not writing him off yet. The biggest asset he has is time. There's still 8 races, and they're still separated by only about 200 points. Anything can happen.

I'm glad to see he's thought about it and feels better. I definitely still think he can make it. I'm not giving up until the checkers fly at Homestead. :)

Now thats what I like to hear come from him. I'm glad he shook off last weekends race and is ready to do some damage at Kansas! Just like Racefan9 said, he can do this.
