Title: Kahne Incident Quotes
CanadianKahne - September 24, 2006 09:31 PM (GMT)

| YOU WORKED SO HARD TO MAKE THE CHASE. WHERE DOES THIS LEAVE YOU? "No more championship. We all thought we had a shot to win the Nextel Cup, but you can't have two rough weeks I don't think. We're going to come back next week at Kansas and do everything possible to win the race. I think we'd have to win the final eight to win the Cup. |
I dont like when he's so negative! :(
Court - September 24, 2006 09:36 PM (GMT)
They're not going to give up. I know they can fight their way back up there.
Anything can AND will happen.. it's not over 'til they take the checkers at Homestead. They've got some tracks coming up that Kasey's done good at.. it doesn't necessarily that he'll win at them, but he should do well at them.. and then there's some that aren't that great for him... Talladega. But those guys know what they need to do, and they CAN do them!
But, if they can't win it, I'd like to see them finish in the top 5 at least.
SD#1KaseyFan - September 24, 2006 09:38 PM (GMT)
Well maybe he won't feel like it's such a lost cause in a couple of weeks if he makes up some ground.
kaseys_ky_girl9 - September 24, 2006 09:40 PM (GMT)
They'll pull it together these next eight races. Even if they can't get the Cup (though it's still possible), they can definitely come out in the top 5 at the end. They just need to keep the faith and stick with that "Never Give Up" attitude. No matter what happens, I'm just so proud of them for making it into the Chase and even if they finish tenth overall, I'll still be proud of all the hard work they put in this year. And we'll just have to kick ass again next year.
KKAngel9 - September 24, 2006 09:48 PM (GMT)
Awww Kasey feels so down and out, that's not good. I believe he can do good and make up the ground that he's lost this week.
AmeriKahneGirl924 - September 24, 2006 09:52 PM (GMT)
It's going to be very tough now. :(
Jennifer - September 24, 2006 09:55 PM (GMT)
alot of things can happen, granted it's not gonna be easy. And with seemingly nothing going wrong for the top teams he probably feels like it's out of reach. But if they can string together a couple of good finishes they'll be right back in the thick of things
this is me being positive *wink*
Katie9 - September 24, 2006 09:57 PM (GMT)
That's hard to read, but Kasey has busted his ass all season to get into that top ten and even if he doesn't win the cup he has nothing to be ashamed of. He'll just have to go out there and go after it next season.

Yep.. he has MANY more years ahead of him to do it. We know that he has the potential.. but if it's not meant to be this year, then it's not meant to be. He's had a great season.. none of them should be hanging their heads.
SD#1KaseyFan - September 24, 2006 10:03 PM (GMT)
Kasey has nothing to be ashamed about. How many other teams have come back from the adversity this team has faced and made the chase. Even if this isn't the year Kasey wins the Cup he will make up some ground and hopefully come out of the Chase with a top 5. But none of those guys should hang their heads low, they have had an incredible year. And I for one am a very PROUD fan of Kasey and the whole 9 crew.
racefan9 - September 24, 2006 10:29 PM (GMT)
He can still win it all! I know he can!
Scrapbookgirl9 - September 24, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
oh damn now I really wish I was off Tuesday and could go to this golf charity thing in Hickory Kasey is gonna be at.....cause make sure that boy ain't so down
sure its tough........but hell no way no how are they giving up now
And I wonder if those quotes were right after the incident or after the race? Cause a lot of things changed by the end of the race........
and coming right up the OFFICIAL WE BELIEVE thread :)
Princess_Sara400 - September 24, 2006 10:34 PM (GMT)
Kasey was just disappointed and when he's disappointed he's hard on himself. He'll be up there no worries. He rallied into the chase 3 races to go. Well there are 8 races now and he can do it.
Peter - September 24, 2006 10:38 PM (GMT)
182 points is a lot, but it's definitely possible to overcome that deficit by the end of the season. If Kasey wins at Kansas, he'll probably cut it down to 130-150 points. In my opinion, 156 is the key number. If Kasey can be within 156 points of the leader entering Homestead, he値l have a shot at winning the championship. The last few years, there were only 4-5 drivers within 156 points entering Homestead. If Kasey is within 156 points after Kansas, he値l have a shot at taking the points lead after Talladega, with 6 races left in the season. I知 a numbers person, and the numbers show that Kasey can still win this championship. Not easily but it's definitely possible.
Kasey had cars capable of winning the last two races, and he should have chances to win seven of the next eight races. Talladega痴 the wildcard, but if Kasey can get out of there with a solid, top 15 finish and run top 5 in the other seven races with a few wins, then I really think that he値l be back in the top five with a shot at the championship entering Homestead. And if he doesn't, this has still been the career best year for Kasey and Evernham Motorsports in many different ways.
I feel like pretty much every race for the rest of the year will be like Dover. Some drivers will run well, some drivers will struggle, and some drivers will DNF. It's impossible to predict how points will end up, but they will change every race. A lot can change in eight races.

Wow, I don't think I could have said it better myself. You expressed everything that I was feel, and put them all down into words. Do I think it will be easy? No. Do I think it can be done? Yes. Everyone was writing the Chase off after Watkins Glen, but Kasey did he best and it paid off. All Kasey can do now is his best and the reward will come if it is meant to be.

Here are some of Tony's quotes:
[QUOTE]
"Wrecking is one thing, but when you take out somebody that's in the Chase, you've screwed up a whole team's year by one race," said Stewart. "And of all people, it's one of my good friends (Kasey Kahne).
"Kasey can go out and win the rest of the races and not win the championship still. It's not about who's going to win the championship based on good finishes, it's going to be about guys who just don't have a bad day. That's all this Chase boils down to."
I feel bad for Kasey, but I also feel bad for Tony. To know how he feels about Kasey and to be the cause of the wreck today had to have almost killed him.
Scrapbookgirl9 - September 24, 2006 11:14 PM (GMT)
I *heart* Tony and I know Kasey is the last person he wanted to hurt in the Chase so I know it must be hard for Tony
but its okay.....things happen, Kasey will recover I have no doubt :)
Jennifer - September 24, 2006 11:16 PM (GMT)
yeah, I knew Tony was gonna feel bad for taking Kasey out. Poor Tony
Melissa - September 24, 2006 11:17 PM (GMT)
I love Smokey. I know he feels really bad. It wasn't his fault, it was a racing deal, it happens.
SD#1KaseyFan - September 24, 2006 11:28 PM (GMT)
Kasey and Tony incidentHere is another article about the incident between Tony and Kasey. Kasey just needs to have the confidents to say that they can fight back.

Not to sound like I'm not all wound up about Kasey wrecking, but doesnt it seem theyre making a bigger deal of him being out of reach right now than they did in any previous year with other drivers? It's not like he's the first Chase driver in history to get caught up in a wreck....Seems he's really taken over as Nascar's golden boy, and I just hope that he never takes half as much flack as Dale Jr did for it.
Melissa - September 24, 2006 11:47 PM (GMT)
Let the critics count him out. Look what happened the last time they counted him out. This time he has more races to prove them wrong.
DEDICATION. DRIVE. DETERMINATION.

Exactly, I couldn't agree more. Just more of the "Ha Kasey proved you wrong, again".

last week it was Johnson and Busch, this week its Kasey.......
they have to write about someone and their Chase chances, Kasey making the Chase and the 5 wins has been big news so they'll jump at the chance to talk about him maybe not being in contention anymore.......
oh well he'll prove them all wrong :)

^Something Kasey needs to come and read for some inspiration. He sounds too down about it. We all know he is capable of doing it! And we're behind him all the way! He just has to shake this bad race off and go out there and do the best he can. Whatever happens, happens. No matter what we're proud! Go get 'em next week Kasey! :drive :gokasey

I honestly feel that somehow Tony is going to try and make this up to Kasey. I really and truly do.

I agree with you. He and Kasey have been friends for a long time. From the quotes I've read, Tony feels terrible about the wreck.
kahnesfn4evr9 - September 25, 2006 10:52 AM (GMT)
Anything can happen, remember back in 2004 when Jimmie Johnson had those 3 or 4 bad weeks at the beginning and he fell all the way down to 9th. What happened? He came back to win 3 races in a row and then 2 weeks after that another win. And he ended up finishing 2nd only 8 points behind Kurt. That proves that anything can and will happen during the Chase and that we nor Kasey should give up, because we still have a shot.

248 points to be exact
so 182 is nothing

I wanted to give Tony a hug!
I knew there was a reason I loved Tony... and I knew after the wreck he (tony) had to be super upset not only because he wrecked but because it was Kasey who hit him... not to say if it was any other chase driver Tony wouldn't of felt bad but I think because it IS Kasey and they are really good friends Tony was that much more upset about it...
And I agree w/ you Christy... drafting help at Dega is always a nice "I'm sorry I ruined your day" present.
P.S. I almost wrote Tristy... Damn those girls LMAO :lmbo
Jen - September 26, 2006 04:58 PM (GMT)
My auntie emailed me today to make sure I wasn't mad at Tony. LoL I was like...it's not like he MEANT to do it. It just happened. Poor dude. Maybe he and Kasey rode home on Tony's jet and moped around together.
Haha.. we've corrupted Nic. *cackles*
