Title: ESad to the 19..

Court - August 13, 2006 11:54 PM (GMT)
Bob just said on VL that Ray and Robert Yates talked this weekend, and ESad WILL be in the 19 starting next week. They're going to talk more and get it finalized and announce it.

Scrapbookgirl9 - August 13, 2006 11:56 PM (GMT)
WOOOOHOOOO

NeverBeenThawed - August 13, 2006 11:56 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I think that's become pretty obvious over the weekend. Everyone mentioned it in their media reports.

I'm definitely looking forward to having Elliot Sadler as part of the team, though my head is still spinning because of changes midseason like this. Best of luck to Elliot and the entire 19 team! :)

:clap

Now the 19 team can start working on getting ready for next season.

Peter - August 14, 2006 01:32 AM (GMT)
Although I'm extremely disappointed that we won't see Bill Elliott in the car anymore, this is definitely a good move for Evernham Motorsports. Even though the 19 faded near the end, it ran decently all day, and Bill was able to make the field and cut the 31 point gap out of 35th to just 16 points behind the struggling 14 car.

The two main goals with the 19 have got to be getting it to run better and finish the year in the top 35. If they can accomplish those two things by the end of the season, 2007 will go much smoother. Plus, letting Elliott Sadler and the team build chemistry early is a huge benefit that some of the other new team and driver combinations won't have...as far as we know.

Katie9 - August 14, 2006 01:44 AM (GMT)
Hell Yeah!!!

AmeriKahneGirl924 - August 14, 2006 11:16 AM (GMT)
Glad that's out of the way! Now, let's race!!

KaseyKahneFanForLife938 - August 14, 2006 03:55 PM (GMT)

I agree. I hope all three teams start to be consistent here really soon.

Princess_Sara400 - August 14, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
one thing we have to consider the adjustment between the Fusion and the Charger. He might not be good right off the bat. But because Elliott is in the top 35 in points does that count?

I didn't know where else to post this, but it fits here.

Unfortunately, he still has to qualify on time because the top 35 is based on owner points rather than driver points.

The entry list for Michigan is out, and Bill Elliott is listed in the 19 with Elliott Sadler in the 38. It could change, though. Last week it did.

:lmao That is cute. lol

I think this is a good, fresh start for ESad, as well as Jeremy...the mess is all being picked up little by little. I welcome Elliott and I wish Jeremy all the best, he deserves to be happy and I hope will be.

K Bear - August 15, 2006 05:37 AM (GMT)
Elliot needs to step it up. He's gonna have to work hard. He's not used to having to work real hard. This is going to be a challenge, but one I do belive he can overcome. This is gonna be something, Elliot and Kasey on the same team. :thud

And just what exactly do you base this opinion on?

K Bear - August 15, 2006 05:04 PM (GMT)
The fact that averages say he is not better a driver than the one the left the #19. He's with a team that is heading towards an eventual championship. He's a great driver, but at the same time, I truly believe he dogs it a lot on the track. He needs to get his focus back and realize this is the deal of a lifetime. You screw it up, you don't get a re-do. Everyone is going to be focused on him and Kasey. He's got to prove the critics wrong that he's "not better driver than Mayfield."

Lucky Ducky - August 15, 2006 06:26 PM (GMT)
Are you talking this season or what?

And how do you know that "he's not used to working real hard"? I'm just curious, that's all. More than figures need to back a statement like that up. Figures can be attributed to a number of things.

Especially since it's not like DJ has been burning up the pylon for RYR either and he's a former champion.

And honestly - I don't know if you can call this deal with EMS a "deal of a lifetime". If it were Hendrick or Roush, then definitely. But EMS still has a lot of proving to do.

Don't you know that EMS is the best Nascar team out there? The pillar of Nascar success?

I just found this article

http://msn.foxsports.com/nascar/story/5876816

and this on Jayski:

Kahne Double-Clutches (and confirms) Sadler Rumors: #9-Kasey Kahne may have given Knoxville television stations a scoop tonight. Kahne was visiting East Tennessee and signing autographs at NASCAR Speedpark in Sevier County. Speculation is mounting that Elliott Sadler will join Kahne as a teammate next season– although there’s been no official confirmation from Ray Evernham Motorsports– or Sadler himself. Tonight, asked about the situation– Kahne took things one-step further– saying Sadler may join the team in time for this weekend’s race at Michigan. Here’s his quote: “The 19 (car) hasn’t performed at all this year, and actually has been bad at most of the tracks. They’re out of the top-35 in points, so Ray is changing some things around there. I think Elliott Sadler is gonna be in the car this weekend. I think, maybe (smile). I don’t know for sure. I’m pretty sure he is. It’s gonna be good. I mean, next year he’s gonna be my teammate for sure, whatever happens this year."(Wogan on Sports)(8-16-2006)

Hopefully that means we will hear Official soon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Elliott Sadler will take over the No. 19 Dodge at Evernham Motorsports beginning with this weekend's race at Michigan International Speedway, a team official confirmed to The Associated Press.

Sadler secured an early release from Robert Yates Racing late Tuesday evening, clearing the way for him to replace Jeremy Mayfield beginning Sunday, according an Evernham official who spoke on condition of anonymity because an official announcement had not yet been made.

Sadler, who asked out of his contract at Yates in July, had been predicted to join Evernham's three-car team in 2007. But when Evernham fired Mayfield last week, Sadler and the car owner worked to get him into the No. 19 immediately. The paperwork was finalized Tuesday night, and Sadler was set to test the car at Kentucky Speedway on Wednesday.

He'll drive the final 14 races of the season for Evernham to get a jump on next season. Sadler was a 2004 Chase for the championship contender, but has fallen on hard times with the entire Yates organization.

David Gilliland, meanwhile, tested Sadler's old Yates car at Kentucky and was poised to fill the seat in that ride beginning with Sunday's race in Michigan. Gilliland exploded onto the NASCAR scene in June when he won the Busch Series race at Kentucky while driving for an underfunded team.

It's not clear if Gilliland will drive the rest of the Cup schedule for Yates. NASCAR has yet to clear him to race at Talladega Superspeedway, and running in more than seven events this season would make him ineligible to compete for rookie of the year in 2007.

That's where Mayfield could come in. Although he's expected to sign with Bill Davis Racing for the 2007 season, he could drive a handful of races for Yates while the team prepares for Gilliland to take over the ride permanently next year.

Mayfield was fired last week in the midst of a tumultuous season with Evernham. Although he was a two-time qualifier for the Chase for the championship, he had a miserable year and had been extremely critical of the car owner because of it.

He dropped to 36th in the points before he was fired, and was replaced with Bill Elliott last week at the road course in Watkins Glen, N.Y.

OFFICIAL: Evernham Motorsports announced today that it has named Elliott Sadler to drive the #19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger beginning this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. Sadler, who had his first win at Bristol in 2001, has three career wins, seven poles and 16 top fives in 271 starts, brings his hard-charging driving style, fun-loving personality and broad fan appeal to Evernham’s three-car NASCAR Nextel Cup program. He joins Kasey Kahne, driver of the #9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger and Scott Riggs, driver of the #10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger. The 31-year-old native of Emporia, VA, will start his career at Evernham Motorsports this weekend in the backyard of his new primary sponsors – Dodge and the Dodge Dealers. While the terms of his relationship with Evernham Motorsports were not announced, he does have a long term commitment to the program.
“It’s truly an honor to drive for Dodge and Ray Evernham and to be a part of this team,” said Sadler. “I admired Ray as a crew chief and now as a team owner and business leader. His operation is impressive. When you look at the engineering resources, the talented guys on the team, the marketing programs, the facilities and the way he and his directors run things, you can tell that this is a powerhouse organization that is focused on winning races and championships. I look forward to providing some of those wins and hopefully competing with Kasey and Scott for the championship next year.”
Sadler is also excited about his new relationship with Dodge. “My family’s business has a Dodge dealership in Franklin, VA, so it will great to represent Dodge and all the dealers across the country,” he added. “They have some amazing cars and trucks, and I’ll be trading in my current truck for a Ram SRT-10 right away.” Ray Evernham, president and CEO of Evernham Motorsports, said Sadler brings the right chemistry, personality and driving skills to round out his stable of NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers. “So much of the success of a team depends on having the right blend of chemistry and communications,” said Evernham. “Elliott will be a great fit with our team right away and will bring the competitive drive and the ability to communicate with the team what the Dodge Charger needs to perform at its best. I think he’s the key that will place this team firmly on the path to success.” Sadler will get his first experience in a Dodge Charger on Wednesday when his team goes to Kentucky Speedway to test. “We’re looking forward to having Elliott join the Dodge family,” said Mike Accavitti, director of Dodge SRT and motorsports product planning and marketing. “He’s got great star power, he’s a talented driver and has excellent potential to be a champion. He’s a perfect fit for the Dodge brand.”(Clear!Blue/Evernham Motorsports PR)(8-16-2006)
