Title: Mayfield Out... Totally At EMS?

Court - August 10, 2006 06:06 PM (GMT)
Mayfield out..totally at Evernham? hearing Evernham Motorsports has released #19 driver Jeremy Mayfield from driving duties for the rest of the season, no word if the contract situation has been resolved if he has been released....or if he will drive again this season in the Cup series.(8-10-2006)

being kicked out for one race is def enough to bring this on on either side. Like i've said having the tension they already have, to come back at watkins glen would only put more tension on the team and those involved and could make things worse. So more than likely, subbing bill for Jmay at glen was prolly just a pre curser for the rest of the season.

sad to see this happen.

I don't think I have anything nice to say. I think this is a load of crap, and Jeremy got kicked in the balls.

:bam

Edit: And just to add the the Watkins Glen issue--Jeremy's never finished worst than 16th at Watkins Glen in his past five starts there. Pretty decent record.

:lmao Avoiding the Christmas rush, I suppose.

Seriously tho, I'm not surprised about this (the McFarland thing came from left field and surprised me, but not this) Between Bill subbing for Jeremy at the Glen and the article on nascar.com stating that Jeremy's name had been removed from company letter head listing the drivers of EMS, it was just a matter of time really.

I'm a bit sad, but not surprised. I am curious as to who will be in the 19 and if Jeremy is going somewhere elsefor the rest of the season.

I hate to see this all happening in the middle of a season, I really do. It's definitely drastic, but if things couldn't be resolved it could be best for all involved to split now. But I still hate for it all to happen anyway.

So, now that Silly Season for 2007 rides is well underway, when do we get to start hearing about Silly Season for 2008 rides? (I'm thinking next week, myself LOL)

The Mayfields: The Glen

QUOTE
Throughout the 2006 season the Mayfields, Evernham Motorsports' Nextel Cup driver Jeremy and his wife, Shana, offer an insightful, irreverent and sometimes downright wacky look at the week-to-week happenings around the circuit -- and beyond.

This week, Silly Season took an incomprehensible turn for Mayfield, a five-time winner in the Cup Series -- as he discovered he wouldn't be driving the No. 19 Dodge for Evernham at this weekend's AMD at The Glen.

It eliminated from their itinerary a trip that the Mayfields had mixed feelings about, anyway However, it increased speculations about their future NASCAR address.

This week: Massacre at The Glen?

Q: Jeremy, you've had a pretty decent record at Watkins Glen, with a worst finish of 16th in your last five races, but you got some news from your business manager Monday that put your next road race on hold.

Jeremy Mayfield: We were looking forward to going to Watkins Glen this weekend, because lately I've run well there and I love that racetrack. But obviously, now we're not going.

I don't know. It's pretty disappointing that we're not going. We felt like, given our recent results there, we had a chance to make something happen.

Shana Mayfield: It's a shock.

Jeremy Mayfield: It's a big shock, for sure -- especially the way it happened.

Shana Mayfield: We can't really comment on a lot of the details and we don't really want to, but it happened and we're dealing with it.

Jeremy Mayfield: You just have to move on, to keep going forward. We'll move on from here, and we certainly appreciate all the support that we've been hearing about from our fans. That means more than I could ever say.

Shana Mayfield: Absolutely. We want to tell all the fans that we will be back. It may be sooner rather than later, we don't really know right now.

But we appreciate the way that the fans have stood beside us through all of that. We're going to take some time, now, to finish up the house and to gather our thoughts and go on from here.

QUOTE
Shana Mayfield: It used to be kind of fun to go to Watkins Glen and watch a movie or just hang out in the motorhome. We were planning on going to see Talladega Nights up there, because it came out last weekend.

We wanted to go see that, so that will give us something fun to do and take our minds off things for a couple hours. We were going to take the girls and just relax -- so now we'll just try to do the same thing here.

You need that sometimes, especially now after moving, and Indy -- and this latest development. We were planning on the Glen being a little bit of a wind-down for us, so we'll see what happens, now.

poor Jeremy

NeverBeenThawed - August 11, 2006 02:19 AM (GMT)
That sucks for Jeremy. But I think he'll be better off elsewhere.

K Bear - August 11, 2006 06:55 AM (GMT)
No shocker here other than I thought it would take another week for all of this crap to hit the fan. Hopefully this all works out the best for all parties involved.
