I ADORE Ryan Newman! I have a great Newman story. I will share it. :)
Last year, my friend Cortney and I went to Stocks for Tots up in Mooresville, NC. At the time, we were big Denny Hamlin fans and he was supposed to be appearing there and signing autographs. I went by Joe Gibbs Racing earlier in the day to seek out Denny #11 merch. They had JUST gotten in their first shipment of Denny merch -- these fugly hats. But they were all they had, so I went ahead and bought one for each of us.
Fast forward to standing in line at Stocks for Tots. Cortney decided to put hers on, but she left the price tag on it (it was like, $21.95 or something). I told her she was goofy, and stuck the price tag on her arm. So we're going through the line and we get up to Matt Borland and Ryan Newman.
I was first, and Ryan looked up and said, "Hey, what's up, Pinky?" I was like, "huh?" And he was like, "Your scarf and hat are pink. Pinky." I was all, "OOOOH!" and laughed. I thanked him and moved on.
Cortney was next, and Ryan spotted the price tag on her arm, and said something like, "Is that the going rate? It's really cheap. Cheapy." And Cortney was like, "yeah, I'm on sale today" and they joked around a bit.
So then, later on -- like an hour later -- Cortney was trying to get a picture of Travis Kvapil, and Newman saw her, and proceeded to shout "HEY! HAS THE PRICE GONE UP AT ALL?!"

To this day we still call each other Pinky and Cheapy, and we've taken to cheering for "Pinky" on the track.
It was awesome. Totally changed my perception of him. :)

That is awesome. Aww sounds like he has a good sense of humor. I remember when I was waiting in line to get his autograph he looked up at me and said "How you doing?"...sounded like Joey from friends hahaha.
