For several decades, the Charlotte, N.C., area has been considered the heart and home of NASCAR race teams. Kansas Speedway president Jeff Boerger thinks several decades are long enough. Boerger has begun investigating the possibility of luring NASCAR teams away from Charlotte and into the Kansas City area. Boerger said he will approach local and state government officials about helping him, and he will work with community leaders in an effort to advance the idea. "We're planning to be proactive in trying to attract teams to Kansas City and the state of Kansas," Boerger said. "We will pursue this." (Kansas City Star/Mercury News)(05-21-04)
You know what I say to that.........I don't think so, we ain't giving up without a fight here in Charlotte! Plus tons of the teams are building new facilities, lots of the companies that supply the teams are here, etc so I think it would take a whole heck of a lot for Kansas to succeed.
