Elliott will be making his 5th Busch start of the year.
It's been 12 years since Bill Elliott competed in a NASCAR Busch Series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway, but the veteran driver will make his return to Charlotte this weekend in Friday night's Dollar General 300.
Elliott will be behind the wheel of the Evernham Motorsports No. 6 Dodge, which Kasey Kahne drove to victory over Greg Biffle last Saturday at Kansas Speedway.
"I'm really looking forward to running with the No. 6 team in the Busch race at Charlotte, especially with the momentum they have after winning last weekend in Kansas," said Elliott, who has made 41 career Busch Series starts.
Elliott will be shooting to make his fifth Busch Series start of the 2005 season, which has included a top-10 finish at Pikes Peak International Raceway back in July.
Despite his vast experience at Charlotte, Elliott isn't quite sure what to expect this weekend given the new racing surface at Lowe's Motor Speedway, which caused several drivers to spin and crash while testing at the track several weeks ago.
"I don't really know what to expect during the race, with all of the changes that have been made to the track but it will certainly be a challenge if testing is any indication," Elliott said.
"We ran well there in the spring in the Cup car, but there have been more changes made to the track surface since then that will affect everything. I believe that the teamwork that we convey at Evernham will be what carries us to a good finish."
