I was really disappointed by how Erin Crocker was treated after her run-in on the racetrack with Justin Labonte. I would have preferred to hear someone say, "I messed up a little bit, got into her and spun her out — that's what happened — rather than acting as if she was doing something wrong. It was early in the race and everybody was trying to get into a rhythm. She qualified well, and I was hoping that she would have a good day. They were being a little hard on her when they were interviewing her and telling her that Labonte said he was being really patient, insinuating that she was holding up everybody. I don't see it that way, and I don't think she or Ray did either. Then to make a big deal about her taking off her steering wheel, it was all negative, and I didn't feel it was justified. I felt sorry for her. She's a young gal, and she has some talent. I'd like to see her get a little more respect. She's certainly getting some respect from me for the way she handled that interview like a professional.

Right on!! :clap

Labonte was a jerk. No doubt about it.

Erin was a class act though. I'm sure she'll continue to get some flack about being female in NASCAR, but Saturday was kind of rediculous.

I HATE when people say "Oh they are treating me like this beqacuse I'm a female" or "because I'm (You fill in the minority)". You know what I mean. So many times, it's an easy out to cover for someone's personal shortcomings. But in Erin's case, I really do think she is being treated differently a little bit because she is a woman. But she is doing an outstanding job!

:clap Thank you DW!!!!

I totally agree with you!!

Stupid Labonte even though I think he is still cool in my book. :lmbo

I would think that someone like Justin would have a little more class when it comes to driving a stock car... for pete sake both his dad and uncle drive and you don't see too much outta Bobby or Terry when he races.

For once, I actually agree with DW! Great article!

Way to go DW :clap

DW said it wonderfully. She'll get there! I know yall didn't see it, because from what they showed in the replays, you couldn't tell, but I was at Richmond and I had a perfect view of the incident there. Justin was the one that did it. He was behind her, and he just came up and bumped her, causing her to lose control of the car. 2 Starts. 2 Wrecks. Same person at Fault. Something needs to be done.

:o I didn't realize Justin was involved at Richmond, too. Sounds like a "personal" issue with him...

At Richmond, I thought she just got loose that time on her own? All I remember is her interview where she pretty much took responsibility for losing control of the car.

9kaseygirl9 - September 26, 2005 11:19 PM (GMT)
Yes, he was. The replays they showed on TV (I taped the race) were indecisive as to what happened. I saw it though. I could not have had a better view. Yall are just going to have to take my word for it, but trust me, it happened.

I'm thinking it might be something personal as well, what it is, I do not know.

Yeah, I know she took responsibility for it during her interview, but she was being a class act and taking the blame herself. Just shows how she wants respect and isn't about to go blaming people. At the track, it was plain as day though. I watched her the whole time and I am positive that is what happened.

colleen313 - September 26, 2005 11:23 PM (GMT)
Oh, I'm not doubting you at all. I was just saying that what I remembered about the last deal wast that it seemed to be more of a rookie mistake, whereas this time was due to getting run over by an impatient driver.

9kaseygirl9 - September 26, 2005 11:25 PM (GMT)
Right. I understand. I was just clearing it up for anyone who was confused about it.
