Title: New Driver Lineup for 6 Busch Car...

Court - September 10, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
Ray Evernham announced a new driver lineup in the No. 6 Dodge for 2006. The car number will be changed to the No. 9 with drivers Kasey Kahne, Scott Riggs and Jeremy Mayfield splitting duties. Kahne will drive the majority of the companion events. As far as the standalone Busch races, Evernham says he is unsure who the driver may be and added, "What we'd like to do is add another developement driver." One of those names popping up for consideration is the fourth generation, AJ Foyt IV (09-09-05)

kimmerlh - September 10, 2005 01:35 AM (GMT)
i'm confused now, on the busch race they said erin would be full time busch? so are they making a new number 6 for that?

other than that thats cool!

Court - September 10, 2005 01:42 AM (GMT)
Erin's in the 98 for Busch

Melissa - September 10, 2005 02:17 AM (GMT)
EMS won't have the 6 next year, Ray is trading it to Roush for the 9

Peter - September 10, 2005 02:25 AM (GMT)
Great, it looks like Evernham Motorsports has its Busch plans settled for 2006.

1. There will be two full time cars; the 9 and the 98.
2. Erin will run full time in the 98.
3. Kasey, Jeremy, and Scott will share the 9 at the companion events.
4. A development driver (probably AJ Foyt IV) will race the 9 in the other races.

amelia - September 10, 2005 02:31 AM (GMT)
Cool! I'm glad Kasey's going to run more Busch races next year.

Melissa - September 10, 2005 02:31 AM (GMT)
I wonder what will happen with the 79.

AmeriKahneGirl924 - September 10, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
Well, now that's settled.

Sounds like a good game plan!

Krista - September 10, 2005 07:06 PM (GMT)

yea, I'm real curious about that one too.......my friend that works there doesn't really know anything yet

ReedsPiratePrincess - September 13, 2005 06:53 AM (GMT)
Well isnt that interesting.

Maybe the 38 will be tyler walker or mike wallace... they drove it a bit this year.

Melissa - September 13, 2005 10:06 AM (GMT)
I don't think it will be Tyler.

Same - September 13, 2005 03:14 PM (GMT)
i think ray should put tyler in his equipment. it'd be nice to have kasey in the busch series, but someone should really give tyler a GOOD chance.

I wonder what will happen with the 79.

I was wondering about that too..

Also about the 38 Great Clips, I don't see Tyler being brought back..I thought Kasey was going to give him a chance with his racing team to run the sprints more now?

Interested in finding out more info about that!

Scrapbookgirl9 - September 14, 2005 12:47 AM (GMT)
Yea, Tyler will run some races for Kasey's sprint car teams and hopefully he'll get another shot at Busch or Trucks or something......I think given time and experience he'd be a great driver for a team

jerseyfan4kahne - September 14, 2005 04:15 AM (GMT)
SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD PLAN! GOO TEAM GO!

Hmm, I just noticed that press release from a few days ago. Not sure if anyone else has seen it.

Judging from that, the 9 car only has sponsorship to drive the 23 companion races. I bet they still run the full season with a development driver. If not, the 98 will probably get the 2005 6 car points. With all the Buschwhackers, making the first few races next season will be tough for anyone without the points. That's why I'm hoping that Ray can either get the 2005 40 car points (FBR is falling apart and will probably not have sponsorship for all three teams next season) or the 2005 6 car points (if they're not a full time team, why not transfer the points to their full time car?) for Erin's 98.

ummm I'm curious about if it will run the full schedule or not too.....the way that sounds it doesn't sound like it, unless they are only calling Kasey, Jeremy, Scott the "Ultimate Chargers" but umm I don't know, that article confused me.

I can't wait to see what the different paintschemes will look like, I like the idea of it being mostly red though! But one thing that is making me laugh.......the thought of Kasey in a SlimFast car :lmao

I think the 6 points should go to the 98 regardless. Don't add having to qual to all that Erin has to deal with. She needs experience and that means being in the race.

The drivers of the 9 are all expereinced.

the 10s points got left with MB2 for them to use for their new car. So why not move the 6s to the 98.

Peter - September 16, 2005 01:15 AM (GMT)
I think the transfer will be possible. A lot of teams have transferred their points to other teams in the past. For example, when Bill Elliott joined Evernham Motorsports, he transferred his 94 points to the 9.

There's a ton of Busch teams who have been selling and transferring points over the past year. With the new top thirty rule in the Busch series, a lot of teams who are leaving the sport are selling their points to new teams. I personally don't like seeing that happen, but if it's possible, then I hope Ray takes advantage of it to get Erin locked in the field at the beginning of the year. Daytona will be hard to make for everyone because there will probably be 60 teams entering the race.

Can't wait to see the EMS 9 car in the Busch series. I'm happy to see Ray giving all three of his full time Nextel Cup drivers a chance in the Busch car.

I'm just hoping NASCAR lets that trend continue so that we can get Erin locked in. Personally you'd think its in NASCAR's best interest to allow it so she's locked in.....they need her to be in the field, they'll want to market her in their diversity efforts
