Erin Crocker confirmed yesterday she will make her Busch Series debut at Richmond International Raceway in the FUNAI 250 on Sept. 9. Regardless of the result, it appears she will make big news at RIR.
During the Sept. 8-10 NASCAR weekend, Evernham Motorsports is expected to announce a full-time Busch sponsor for Crocker in 2006.
The move would continue a quick rise through the stock car ranks by the Wilbraham, Mass., native who started in Sprint cars. In five ARCA starts, Crocker, 24, has won two poles and notched a runner-up and two third-place finishes.
She ran a Silver Crown car at RIR in June and adapted to a Dodge three times as heavy yesterday. Nextel Cup teammate Jeremy Mayfield provided tips during a rental car ridearound.
Crocker is aiming for a top 10 in her first Busch race.
"[Ray Evernham's] given me an awesome opportunity with good equipment and good people around me," she said. "Now I feel it's up to me. ARCA is definitely a good learning ground. I think I'm ready. I know it's going to be a big step and a lot of stiff competition, but you've got to start somewhere."
im going to be gone, at the hooters race, OF COURSE!

Great! Can't wait to see Erin racing at Richmond. I'm thinking it might be in the 79, but you never know. The benefit of her running the 6 would be that she's locked into the race, but I think she'll be okay either way. If she runs the 79, that would allow Kasey to race in the 6.
With the condition of Akins right now (lots of wrecked cars, lots of blown engines, current cars not running well, and no full time driver,) I really wouldn't be surprised to see Great Clips leave them and start sponsoring an EMS Busch car full time. Besides what's on NBS 24/7, I'm not too familiar with Akins and how strong their organization actually is. Maybe the whole 38 team will merge into the second EMS Busch team? We'll hear next weekend probably.

Sigh, yea so my plan was the Richmond Busch race........but that was before KK Day, so I'm gonna miss her debut.
But yay for Erin making her debut and I can't wait to find out if she will be running the full schedule next year and who the sponsor will be.

I think on BGN it stays the announcement for that should be made that same weekend at RIR.

If everything turns out right, and I'm thinking it will, I'll be there! Busch is definite unless something tragic like a family death happens and Cup is possible! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures for everbody!
GO ERIN! I cannot wait! I'm already like so excited!

She said one of her goals was to qualify one time and not have to rely on owners points, so I think she will probably be in the 6.

YAY! :clap
I like your spelling. :)

A press release came out today that announced Erin will be in the 6 car for the next three races (Richmond, Dover, and Kansas.) I hope Evernham Motorsports breaks out the 79 a few more time before the year ends. Since Erin is only running in the 6 car for three races, then I bet she'll run in the 79 for two or three more with her 2006 sponsor.

Erin Crocker's Long Anticipated NASCAR Debut Set for Richmond International Raceway
Crocker to Drive the No. 6 Country Crock Dodge Charger in Busch Series Event at Richmond
Erin Crocker
Statesville, NC (September 2, 2005) – Unilever Foods has announced that Erin Crocker will make her long-anticipated NASCAR Busch Series debut under the lights of Richmond International Raceway on September 9, 2005, driving the No. 6 Country Crock® Dodge Charger.
The 24-year old Crocker, who some have coined as NASCAR’s answer to rising IRL female star Danica Patrick, has received a great deal of media attention over the last couple of months. As Patrick made headlines after finishing fourth in the Indianapolis 500, Crocker began making headlines of her own after winning the pole and leading 28 laps in her first ARCA RE/MAX Series race and first career stock car race at Nashville Superspeedway in March.
Crocker has since proved that she is no fluke and that she has the potential to be one of NASCAR’s first successful female drivers.
Crocker has come through the open wheel ranks, racing successfully on dirt tracks in sprint cars. Last year, Crocker was put in the spotlight and the record books when she became the first female to win an event on the World of Outlaws series — the same racing circuit that has produced current NASCAR stars Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne and Tony Stewart.
In addition to running five ARCA races this season, where she earned two pole awards and posted three top-fives and four top-10’s with 86 laps led, Crocker drove a partial schedule in the Silver Crown Series in a car from Kasey Kahne Motorsports.
Lisa Klauser, Vice President, Brand Building through Customers, Unilever United States, is excited that Unilever Foods has the opportunity to support such a determined young woman in her NASCAR debut.
“Erin’s involvement with Country Crock® and Unilever is a natural fit – NASCAR is the all-American sport, Country Crock® is an all-American brand and Erin is the all-American girl – it’s a recipe for success!
Erin has worked so hard over the years climbing up the ranks in a male dominated sport, and this weekend she has the opportunity to compete against some of the top drivers in the sport. Unilever and the Hungry Drivers™ brands are proud to support her and we look forward to seeing her take the green flag at Richmond in her first career NASCAR race.”
Crocker started racing quarter midgets at age seven and continued to pursue a racing career as a teenager. Throughout high school she balanced her racing career with sports and academics. She participated at the varsity level in soccer, tennis and lacrosse as well as being a member of the ski team. In 1997, her sophomore year of high school, she became the youngest driver to win a feature at Whip City Speedway en route to Rookie-of-the-Year honors. In 1999, she claimed rookie honors in the Eastern Limited Sprints.
In 2002, Crocker posted five A-feature wins in the Mike Woodring-prepared 360 sprint. After spending the early part of the 2003 season competing in the USAC Silver Crown Series, Crocker returned to the dirt winged sprint cars. In only her third time behind the wheel of a 410 sprint car, Crocker became the first woman in the 43-year history of World of Outlaws competition to qualify for the Knoxville Nationals. She was named the 2003 Nationals' Rookie of the Year.
Crocker is scheduled to run three NASCAR Busch Series races in the No. 6 Hungry Drivers™ Dodge this season with Unilever Foods primary sponsoring brands, Ragu®, Hellmann’s® and Country Crock® including events at Richmond, Dover International Speedway and Kansas Speedway.

Hmm, wonder if this means that she will be in the 79 for the other races? Because someone said she was doing 6 races but my notes say that shes also doing phoenix and homestead. Thanks for the article though.
