Title: Web Design

Realist. - August 20, 2007 01:39 AM (GMT)
These days, web design is a very popular subject at colleges and universities. Almost every college or university has a web design class or five. But these classes cost hundreds of dollars for just "Basic HTML". Don't you think that it's unfair that people like Alway, Vic and I learned how to make websites for free, but people are going to school for $200, just to learn a few deprecated HTML tags? Are schools trying to take advantage of people?

I completely agree. I thought about that once, as well. I mean, I would like to get some sort of certification in web design, but I already know everything they would "teach" me. So, it would be a waste of money.

Don't people realize that the people who design web sites know how to make web sites? Kind of confusing, but it's common sense. And, it means that the best place to learn how to make websites is from websites.

So, the bottom line is, yes, schools are ripping people off. Or, maybe people are too lazy to boot up the old computer and do some research. (Although, you'd think taking a college/university course would be harder)

Agree. Who do you think you can trust to learn how to make websites? A old professor who can barely remember what HTML stands for, or a brilliantly designed up to date website?

A topic is pruned when it has been without a post for a certain amount of days... (30 here at Ocyras). The topic is automatically deleted after that number of days.

A prune is also a dried fruit.

That's what prune "meens".

I know. That's for two reasons. It's been posted in recently, and I got rid of the prune rates. You can post in any old topic by selecting 'from the beginning' from the drop-down list below the topic display.
