Title: Perhaps it's not meant to be
Mike - March 23, 2006 04:39 PM (GMT)
Had a lead on a Raptor 30 V2 that was posted on rcgroups.com yesterday, came with an OS .32, 4 JR servos, Futaba 240 gyro, couple sets of extra blades, extra fins, tail booms, etc. I went to get back to him this morning to tell him I'd take it and it was already sold. I just figure I'm not supposed to have a chopper right now.
I guess I need to have enough fun with my new planes first before I go thinking about tackling yet another challenge anyway. Plus my bank account will thank me for it also.
Not that I would turn my head if a good deal came my way, of course. B)

Don't give up after one attempt, surely you can find a deal. I think David W. had a good deal on a Raptor 30 V2 he was looking to sell (not usre if he already sold it)
Speaking of chopper flying, I noticed a quote from frits in the new Pits report

You better be high steppin if your gonna stay ahead of me, cause I have the peddle to floor and aint slowin down to wait on ya. You will definitely need your Steel spheres in tact to keep pace, and alot of fuel.
Start with some nose in hovering, I started toying with that last weekend and will be working on it more this weekend, auto's are in the near future also.

Yeah - blah, blah, blah , blah....
I went to the field today (Thursday) and did DOZENS of autorotations with my Hawk III.
Switched it to Idle Up mode and did an excellent tight loop, if I say so myself. :P
A roll will come this weekend — mark my words.
I flew the crap out of my Hawk II and did some low — really loooow — altitude figure eights and turnarounds.
Nose-in hovering is becoming old hat now...
I amazed myself and a visitor who had wandered onto the field...
It was a great afternoon! Sure missed you guys.
Where were you? Oh, I forgot. Work, right? :o
:roflmao:

Now there is a surprise, NOT !
Any real witnesses to all these advanced maneuvers or just you and an unknown spectator? The proof is in the pudding, we'll see if your thumbs can back up the smack talk.

I think Frits might be drunker than I tonight....and that's a hard accomplishment.

Come on Mr. Mike, bite the bullet while you are drunk and get a chopper.
Good flying weather soon be here and you don't want to be left behind.
They got a Raptor ARF kit at hobbyshop, I think.
Run on by there and pick it up with a OS .37H and a Futaba 401 gyro.
Or check heliproz.com for some good combo deals.
Then you can get ready to really spend some money. Kind of like a boat, a hole in the water that you throw money into. Bling Bling Bling Cha Bling
Wait till yall see Tony's custom painted Hawk Pro canopy and fin set.
It is green with some yellow thrown in and will have purple flames painted on and a blacked out windshield. :hyper:

Run! Run far away! Choppers are like strippers. All you will end up with is frustration and empty pockets!!!
jonkoppisch - March 24, 2006 02:32 PM (GMT)
And since Billy flies choppers he should know ;) :hysterical:

That thing
is sweet! I could see myself with a nice Hughes 500 fuse one day.
Just a little one of course, maybe like this one:

So I lied, maybe it was meant to be.
I need to start shopping for a backup. I fear I'm on borrowed time.
