Title: Easier way to start your Heli...

Slappy - March 12, 2006 05:04 PM (GMT)
Well I was thinkin the other day (I know my Dad told me not do cause it was dangerous) but Team Losi and Sportwerks (both R/C Car specific brands) have a direct drive starter that uses a 550 motor and a 7.2 volt battery and has a 6mm starting shaft...

From the times I've used it on the truck it has LOADS of torque, I dont think it would have any problem turning a 30 or 50 Heli engine...

that would work just fine as long as the end was the right size

Its a 6mm shaft isn't that the right size??? Dont know about the 60-90 range but it fits the 30-50's fine

Won't work pal,

The starters for cars turn to the right, you need to start you heli going left.

I was way ahead of you when I bought my Mayhem, but the starter that comes with it turns the wrong direction.

On a plane or heli, you are applying the starter to the "front" of the crank, where as a car, the starting point is at the rear of the crank.
