Title: Irvington Field Gate
Description: Left open again.

alvinonline - June 16, 2004 02:50 AM (GMT)
I went down to field today (June 15) around 5:30.

Found the gate wide a$$ed open and no one there.

This is the third time in about three or four weeks.

It was the club lock that was unlocked.

Please everyone, take time to be aware if you are the last one out to lock the gate.
I know it is a troublesome thing to do if it might be raining or something, but we have some stuff that does not need to be carried off with a clear trail all open for folks.

Also the county landlord would frown on the landfill not being secured.

If I thought that it would do any good, we could put a sign on inside of gate visible on way out to lock the gate, did you forget your transmiter, fasten your seatbelt, turn off fans, lock the kitchen, put frequency pin back on board. :)

Hey Alvin,

With some of the people in this club I don't think that would help any. Especially if
they are like me HEHEHEHe :D

Alvin,

I beieve that some people are just forgetful including myself.

An early morning thought:
How 'bout invoking the "2 man Rule". It works as follows:

(1)The gate must be locked by the next to last person leaving the field. This individual knows who is locked in.

(2) The last person leaving has to stop and unlock gate, which is a good reminder to re-lock it before he leaves. This also lets him know that the next to last person that left did his job. If he fails to lock gate than person in (1) knows who potentially did not do it.

(3) According to "rules" you should not fly unless another individual is present, so the "2 Man Rule" should work great.

Should I go back to sleep?? :hyper: :hyper:

:hyper: :hyper: :banghead:

I like the sign idea.

jonkoppisch - June 18, 2004 04:12 PM (GMT)
maybe the next to last person could just shut the gate, not actually locking it. That would be a good reminder.

Then we need a sign saying if you are the next to last person, shut gate.

Also we can add to the reminder sign, "Did You Flush The Toilet?". :roflmao:

Maybe that is a good idea. except, if the last person can't remember, how can you be sure the next the last would? Also, I'm not sure if all our members can read.

jonkoppisch - June 18, 2004 08:24 PM (GMT)
Better make another sign "Remember to put the lid down" ack!!!!!

Forget the "2 man Rule". Bad Idea. :banghead: Suggest that Alvin's responsibilty as "Grounds Keeper" be extended to encompass Gate Security. He would open Gate at 0700 daily and secure it at dark except when the nite fliers are present. We probably should vote on it at the next ACMA meeting to make it official. Just think of the savings on Keys!! Alvin would have the only Key. <_< :P

Sounds good JetBuddy.

Yawl put me up a nice little garage/workshop/guard shack with upstairs apartment all air conditioned and with stocked kitchen down by the gate.

I will not even need my truck, can ride :steeringwheel: one of the lawnmowers up to corner gas/convienence store for supplies :spam: .
Naw...Better keep my truck or a :moped: for going to meeting and just my luck, I would be needing some eats and brews  and none of the mowers would run.

Bet I would have more company hanging with me in the nice digs than I would know what to do with.
Just go ahead and make it a lounge with driveup window.

But, yawl would want me to split the profits with club.

I just make sure I'm not the last one to leave the field

Billyfrost - June 21, 2004 06:02 PM (GMT)
Alvin we will double your current pay

JetBuddy - June 23, 2004 01:50 AM (GMT)
Solution: Install a automatic cycling gate (see pic) that opens and closes every 30 seconds. Cycle starts at 7:00 AM and locks down at 7:00 PM. :P
