Not for learning how to fly with. :(

Looks like a little electric powered cheapo, so good for some fun tearing it up.

Go with a stardard glo engine powered trainer airplane if really interested in learning to fly.

Probably money wasted if you try to go it alone.
Get with your local RC flying group for advice and help.

Jon Koppisch gave some good advice in another thread.

Good luck with your RC Model Aviation adventure. :)

The absolute minimum (money wise) thing I would suggest is something like this combo deal. $259.99

Trainer Plane/Engine/Radio Combo

This type/size plane is ideal for learning.
If you can spend more money:
Upgrade engine to OS brand. (better power, easier adjusting, and more reliable)
Upgrade Radio to Futaba brand, six channel or more. (more features/adjustments for more advanced planes you may work up to. Also better resale value if you decide to get rid of it)

You can learn on your own (has been done), but probably at least 80% chance of failure.
I cannot stress enough to get with your local RC group for help and advice. They will love the opportunity to help a new flyer.

Good Luck and we are always here at MARCMAF to help as best we can without any hands on ability. :)

Sounds like you live in a pretty isolated area. If you really want to fly RC models purchase a flight simulator software such as "Great Planes Real Flite". Most simulators can be purchased for less than $200 USD. I assume you have a PC since you are on-line. I recently helped a young lad out with his new trainer and he soloed in two flights. He had been flying the simulator for 2 months prior to purchasing the trainer described by Mr. Koppish. The simulator is no guaranty against crashes but your chances of survival will be greater especially since you appear to live in an area where there are no clubs or fliers. Even the astronauts use simulators. :)
