Title: I'm new what should I get?
TKDNinja2001 - June 11, 2004 02:16 PM (GMT)
I'm new to RC planes, I have purchased 2 cheap $50.00 airplanes from walmart, and destroyed both of them and never got them in the air. I am interested in what would be the best thing to get to start learning to fly, I want to fly jets.

Hi,
Sounds like you're trying to learn the expensive way. First you need to find your local club and get together with the club trainer or a person that can train you. This will save you tons of money and lots of trouble trying to figure out things like engine/servo/CG settings etc. Equipment wise I recommend the Hobbico Avistar.
You can get the trainer, radio and engine from www.towerhobbies.com for $270. That includes a futaba radio and an OS 40 engine. Here's the link for it..
Avistar After this you'll need
fuel,
glow plug battery for the glow plug and a
fuel pump When you get with the club you'll need to join and get whatever insurance they require which will probably be
amaHope this helps. Jon

You may check with the local club. Some clubs have a trainer plane that they will teach with.

Not sure where you are located. The first place to check is your local hobby shop. Another is the ama, you can search by state etc
here and also check at
Towerhobbies.
