Title: Mixing receiver/crystal brands

I know the manufacturer's all say that you can't mix receiver and crystal brands, but is that entirely accurate? I have a Hitec rx that I just put a Futaba crystal in and it's working just fine. Granted, it may not work at 200' and 500 yds range, but that's what I'm here to find out.

Yes Futaba crystal will work with a hitec rx, but I don't know that i would trust it at full range. On the other hand, if you have a hitec rx with hitec crystal and a futaba tx with futaba crystal and they are the same channel that will work fine.

After reading a few threads over at RC Universe that seems to be the general consensus there as well. Since the Hitec and Futaba are both Dual Conversion, there's no reason they shouldn't be compatible. hades, I'd be tempted to wager they may even be built by the same company in Japan and just have different labels slapped on em.

I guess we'll find out this weekend if this is a sound theory. B)

Edit: I can't believe Alvin filters out the word h e l l here. With how he talks at the field this place should be no holds barred.

Hey Mr. Mike,
Just don't try them out in your little Sportster airplane.
I like it and it has already had a hard enough time. :P

Don't take this too hard Alvin, but....the Sportster has been retired. It now resides in my closet, an empty shell. This receiver/crystal is in its replacement.

Then again, as soon as I crack this one up I might have to bring the Sportster back around for a comeback tour.
