Title: setting up an ultra stick 40 reciver and radio
Description: trying to get the right configuration

I recently purchased a 40 sized ultra stick and i have a futaba 9c radio with the futaba 8 channel fp-r148df reciver and i have installed all of the servos(7) and i cannot figure out how to connect the leads to the reciever to get the flaps and everyting working right. i am lost need some help. Futaba says use channel 8 but how do you plug in a lead in the 8 slot if 8 is the battery slot

Hey there looks like your on the right track with the radio and plane.
The Futaba site has great help on that. To use the 8th if needed you can use a "y" splitter. I have that same plane and do it with a little mixing and i use 1-7 and only use 8 for batt but it is something i would have to setup way to much typeing.. hope that site helps

thanks for the response david with the help of david l. and fritz we got some things to work although there are still some issues that we have to figure out i will just have to catch you at the field and let you take a look at what we came up with the flaps are acting like alerons one up and one down i guess i will have to buy a y harness and try to get that taken care of .

I will have to look when i get home but i think that you have to reverse one of the setting from +100 +100 to +100 -100 i will look at mine and post on that tonight.

Hi,
I'm assuming that you have separate ailerons and flaps and aren't setting up flaperons on the entire wing (which you could do and actually might be easier). You can go mechanical and use a 'y' harness for the ailerons and the flaps or do a program mix for either or both. If your plugging the 2 flap servos into separate channels then all you probably need to do is go into servo reversing to get the 1 flap going into the right direction. A Y on the flaps probably wont work unless you change the side of the servo that the linkage is on. If you decide on 'flaperons' then to really make it easy just use a Y in each wing half tieing together the flap servo and the aileron servo (also make sure that your linkage on the servos are on the same side of the servo for each wing half, ex on the right wing the linkage for the servo for the flap and the aileron would be on the wingtip side of the servo) then go into advanced mixing options and enable 'flaperon'. Make sure one wing half is plugged into channel 1 and the other into channel 6. Check the servo direction which you can change in the flaperon option or in servo reversing and you should be good to go.

As far as the battery is concerned. If you have any open channels on the receiver you can plug the battery into any open port. If not, then just use a 'Y' and plug the servo into one side and the battery into the other...

Hope this helps

Jon
