Round about late 1970s, I went to AMA Nats in Lake Charles, LA and saw some of first ducted fan jets fly.
Had to have one.
Midwest kit best I remember.
It flew OK, but not really up to jet speed due to drag of the scale airplane type and not so powerfull engine, but sounded pretty good. The Super Tiger engine was replaced with a K&B ducted fan engine with a new type fan unit and it got faster.
This plane actually survived my flying and got sold/traded to another fellow.
Had to have one.

I wonder how that thing woukd fly with a turbine in it.

A whole lot faster I am sure.
You come up with the turbine and I will build the plane.
Or we could put a turbine on top of an Avastar or something or maybe a Ultra Stick.
Would have to split the vertical fin into two fins out on ends of stab to keep from getting burned off.

Was the Jet pre or post your helo days? Where was the picture taken??Old age and poor eyesight is driving us to bigger planes. I think that we could see the attched at ACMA field. :hyper:

How a bout we slap that turbine on my trainer :biggrin: ... Might need to add a extra rubber or two hold on the wing :D

I had the Heinkle back in late 70s and was mixed in with the helis days also.
Picture was taken at JCs Fairgrounds where we (old GCRC club) used to do an annual airshow to kick off the Greater Gulf State Fair.

AND!!!!!!!! A 2x4 on top and bottom with Two BIG C CLAMPS :biggrin:
