hello modelers

i am trying to build a legendary mig 29...

here is info about the aircraft i am trying to build.

weight: 12.5 pounds to 15 pounds max
length: 216.5 cm-- 85.2362205 inc
wingspan: 142 cm-- 55.9055118 inch
Wing aspect ratio: 3.5

this aircraft should have two ducted fans installed in the back. can someone give me information on what size of engine i should purchase. and possibly a url link to where i can purchase it?

another question is, should i purchase two engines or can i operate two ducted fans with only one engine. i dont think that latter is a possibility though.

please do inform me on your opinions and comments.

Hi Taylan,

Sounds like a neat project.

I would think that two engines, each of .60 - .90 size (closer to the .60 size probably) would be about right for that size/weight ducted fan powered jet.

I do not know of anyone who has run two fans off one engine.

Perhaps someone more "Jetty" will reply with good advice on brand/type/size engines and fan units for your project.

I did find some twin engine RC ducted fan jet kits on the web, but they had finished weight of 25 - 30 pounds and were powered by twin five inch fans with .91 or larger engines.

Taylan,

No, that engine would not do for running a ducted fan unit.
It would be for a regular prop airplane.

Engines for powering ducted fans are special units made to run high RPMs and put out plenty of power.

I will try to get some candidate engines researched for you and reply back here soon, later on tonight my time.
