Title: Battle Ship Flyin

Justin P. - May 23, 2004 02:07 AM (GMT)
I had fun at the battleship flyin today and also at silverhill. I wish I could have gotten to the battle ship a little earlier, but I had some other stuff to take care of first. I also had fun getting lost with alvin going to silverhill.

Thanks for riding with me alvin! :D

You are welcome, Justin. :)

I was not lost, just wanted to see how Justin would get us out of the pickle we were in. <_<

The convoy and lead vehicle that knew the way, ran off and left us at the last gas station pit stop.
I was still inside buying smokes and snacks and a soda water.

We finally caught up with them, but all was for naught.
Buddy's new jet never got airborne due to tire problem during takeoff run.
Evon's jet kept flaming out before it got going good.

Did get to see another demonstration of turbine jet flying expertise when Jon Koppisch did a flight on his Kangaroo jet.

OBTW - Everyone was over to the Battleship Alabama Park earlier in the day for the LARC's event.
I enjoyed jawboneing with all the other old farts, watching the flying, and eating lots of the fine food. :D

It was a great day at the Battleship. Lots to eat, many planes and an awesome helo flying. :P New jet skidded sideways @ 40-60 mph just prior to rotation due to melted wheel on axle. (All that taxiing in the last couple of weeks). Andy's expertise on the sticks saved the day. :) Nary a scratch. Jon's turbine powered Kangaroo flew great, so the trip to Silverhill was worth it. :D Alvin kept us all entertained. :hyper:

Battleship fly-in was big success :waveflag: Ray did a great job and the food was great, just ask Alvin <_< . Only thing missing was dewberry dump, so a bunch of us ran back to our field to get some before Alvin could beat us to it. Hated to miss all the ducted fan excitement, but the Dewberries were calling :P

I think Alvin finished up the last of the Dewberries Sunday. The last I saw him, he had a big old pot in his arm, with about a 4in spoon in his hand.

Dewberries are officially gone :crying:

What time is lunch served this weekend at Irvington Field?

I will gladly put something in the donate can for some more tasty eats. :twocents: :twocents: :twocents:

I especialy like the way you folks do the hamburgers and beans. That last batch of beans had some meat in it that I have tasted somewhere before, but can't remember just where.
