Title: Heli Funfly

Scott Godbee - March 31, 2005 01:25 AM (GMT)
I opted to continue our discussion on here.

I would rather use up Alvins bandwidth than clog up you guys e-mail.:)

I got in touch with a couple of the Century reps about prizes for the funfly, I was told it may be one big one instead of a few little ones. Maybe he'll score us a nice kit.

What are your thoughts on the length of the funfly? One day or a whole weekend. As I voiced before, I would prefer a whole weekend, but I think it would be better to schedule it sometime later in the year, if we go that route.

The funfly across the bay in Summerdale is indeed the very next weekend after the weekend of the 4th.

What are your thoughts?

Scott

Hi Scott,
We had a two day event last year of some sort,if my memory serves me right. It seamed to be ok. Well it was more like a day and a half, as it ended around noon.

Event Name: ? We need to think of something neat and catchie or not.

Date: Any time OK by me with consideration for other chopper events.

Whole Weekend: My thoughts. Friday - Field open to early comers, but not restricted to choppers only. Saturday - All day choppers only. Sunday - Choppers only till like 2:00 or 3:00 and then open field to general flying.

Prizes: Donations from like Century and any others. Rob at Hobbytown USA will probably donate stuff as he usually does. Our club usually springs for $200.00 worth of small grab bag prizes.

Pilot Registration Fee: Like $10.00 to $15.00 maybe. Depends on if fee will cover a pilot meal ticket or if pilot buys meal.

Food: Free breakfast served Saturday and maybe Sunday. Sold for main meals and free to registered pilots if we decide and adjust for that in the event fee structure.

Event Style: ? General open flying with a few planned events maybe.

Above just my first thoughts on this event.
I will go with whatever the more currently active chopper folks decide and whoever is the Event Director "Sparkplug".
If my Raptor survives till then, I will register and fly, help with cooking, have field facility looking good as possible, and donate forum bandwidth. :P

Hey that would be great :D Lots of fun. I would love to see a lot of choppers in the air at one time.

It would be nice if when you know about a local area flying event that's coming up, you notify Alvin so it can be put on his calendar so all of us will know about it... (hint, hint...) <_<

Also, as some might not be aware of.
Forum members can add events to this forum's calendar.
View the calendar and you will find the "Add Event" button near bottom left corner.

So if a forum member knows the details of an RC event that might be of interest to Mobile area modelers especially, please feel free to add it.

Hi Scott,
Is the event the weekend of June 11th? Is there a website for the event?

This thing has been planned by a hand full of guys over across the bay. They don't have a organized club, its more like a weekend gathering. They thought this thing up one day and decided to act on it.

Other than a few post on Helifreak.com, I haven't found very much about it.

Scott/Rob,

I am game, let me know the dates and if there is anything I can do to help out.
