Title: Diesel Engines
Description: I need a small diesel engine
Bryan Harris - February 16, 2005 08:09 PM (GMT)
Hey there,
I'm a Science teacher and I'm trying to get ahold of a diesel engine for my class. Since no one I know is willing to give me their cars, I want to use an RC engine. What do I need in order to have a running RC diesel engine. I don't need a plane around it or anything, just a fuel tank and a running engine. Also what would be the best kind to use. Thanks for any help you may have.

Bryan,
Are you local to Mobile, AL area?
I know of one person around here who has used diesel engines in his models.
He is a retired school teacher.
Don't have his contact information, but will mention your needs to him when ever I next see him.
Till then, here is a link to model diesel engines being sold on Ebay, just to give you an idea of what is available and prices.

Bryan, I know who Alvin is talking about.
E-mail me - fjetten@aol.com - and I will give you the guy's phone number. His name is Charles (Chuck) Potts...

Rob Baker at HobbyTown USA had or still has a Davis diesel head for a OS 40FP that I used years ago on my trainer plane and it worked great!
I'll ask him if he still has it if ya like!
It run great but boy what a mess it made on the plane :crying:
Also getting the fuel for no one around the around here (Mobile, Al) was a pain.
Andy

Mr. Potts would probably enjoy :cloud9: bringing one of his diesels to the school and give a demonstration and lecture series about those type engines.
Should be good for the rest of the semester. :what:

I was looking at the engines on ebay and they would be perfect. What else do I need to have it run? A fuel tank, fuel lines, etc.?
