Title: Tony's Little Ele. Ultimate
Description: flew first time today.

alvinonline - January 2, 2005 01:36 AM (GMT)
Tony Farmer and I have been working all week long at the Auto Save Tire Store on his new little electric powered foam Ultimate bipe.

With Andy and Justin and Homer's help at field today, got it all finished out.

It is supposed to be for flying indoors or outside with very little or no wind.

Well, it was blowing pretty good, but Tony wanted to see it go.

Took off the ground, some little trim adjustments, loops and rolls, and a vertical decent to landing.

Tony packed it up for flying another day.
It did amazingly well for the wind conditions.

:fullmoon: Thanks To my little buddy for all the hard work. It did fly,a little windy today for rookies or beginners. Does great in the living room. I think I missed his feeding time because it tried to eat my arm off. :banghead: Maybe tomorrow my wife will let me stay a little longer.

Hey Tony,
You need for me to talk to your wife for you.
I bet I could get you all the field time you would ever need. HAHA hehe :roflmao:

We want to see you fly that thing Sunday.
It seems to be mild mannered and maybe Jon could show us what it can really do.
I have an idea for more elevator and rudder throw if some longer servo horns can't be located.

We will have all next week to work on it at Auto Save. :yickes:
I better stay clear of there for a few days so yall can get some productive work done. :(

After I get my IBM computer away from there before Uncle Lloyd finds it and lets the smoke out. :crying:

A strange thing happened at the field today.

Tony and Jon were flying Tony's electric Ultimate.

Tony took over and somehow the ground rose up and smote it from the sky. :plane_crash:

About a 45 degree bend in the propeller main shaft was all damage.

We are pretty sure that the elevator servo came loose from mounting tape.

But, it was still securely attached on inspection, so during flight/crash debriefing, it was determined that the sudden and severe impact must have slapped the elevator servo back on to the sticky backed mounting tape hard enough to re-attach it.

WOW! That is wild. so is the mounting tape not good to use or should they be glued?

Billyfrost - January 3, 2005 08:29 PM (GMT)
I never liked the mounting tape idea. I like to take a piece of masking or electrical tape and wrap it around the servo. This just protects the servo for what's next. Then mix up some 5 min. epoxy and glue it on. If the servo needs to be replaced just peel the tape off and voilla.

Thanks Billy that is a lot better idea that what i do... i will have to do that from now on.

After reading this thread I think that I'd better go back and check my servo mounting tape on my kangaroo jet

;)

I didn't know that sticky tape had a re-attaching mechanism built in, cool!!!!
