Title: Strange thing happened today
Description: Electric Airplane anomolies

Well I had my Tuff-E out and flew one flight with no problems. Then, on the next flight the AXI motor was locked up. Upon further inspection it was found to have a cracked magnet Hmmmmm. Other than just being defective, does anyone know why this might have occured?

Cracked magnet sounds very unusual. I haven't heard of any problems with the axi motors...

Mr. Billy,
Has the motor ever took a good lick in it's past life?

Sorry I missed you at field Sunday, we fixed plenty good eats after I got there.

 It was the SErvo Tray!!! It was the Servo Tray!!!!

Loose servo trays have been known to create short but powerfull disruptions to the Earths magnetic field, :banghead: resulting in a localized but powerfull shearing effect to local magnetic fields and sources. This no doubt caused the fracture of your magnet..... Get with Don.. he can tell ya about it.

Reversed servo directional control switches can create a similar anomolie, but on a slightly different principal.

Billy this is aplane that you fly a lot and electric motors that turn high rpm usualy create a lot of heat the stress from the heat can cause the motor's magnet to expand quickly over time this causes the magnet to stress and can cause th magnet to crack or chip even if you fly the plane often this could be your problem .
with the recent temp change the magnet could have goten hot and then cooled to fast causing the mag to crack the opposit could be true to if the motor was cold and then heated quickly then the crack could ocure i know of instances where larger motors like this one have had problems of this nature

Thanks for all ya'll's input. As usual, lots of myths, theories, and general Bull#$!%, with a smidgeon of truth! The problem, according to Hobby-Lobby was manufacturing defect. 100% guaranteed. It was promptly replaced with a brand new AXI motor. The original was sent to the skunk works in Czechoslovokia for evaluation. I'm sure some poor Czech worker will go to the Gulag over my cracked magnet!!
Alvin, I waited as long as I could Sunday. At 3:30, I figured no one else would show up.

Cudos to Hobby Lobby!! Replaced AXI fast with no problems!!
