I have had numerous inquiries as to my newest project. Well here it is. Alpha Mig with brushless motor!!

Billyfrost - November 3, 2004 02:10 PM (GMT)
Up-date.. Received jet from Hobby-Lobby. Front section of fuselage is crushed :crying: . Contacted HL they were great and shipped another out while Fed-Ex resolves the other problem. Also, I ordered the Mig on Monday, and I had it Tuesday afternoon!!!!

waynemiller - January 1, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
Below are photos of my current in progress project.
Its a TopFlite GS P-51 ARF. It has a Brison 3.2 with
a 22 x 8 prop for power. It's not finished yet. It still needs
wing fairings, decals and the cockpit to be
painted and installed. Its also not meant to be a close
scale model but more of a "stand off" scale war bird
trainer. As shown, it currently weighs 19 lb 4 oz.

Don

The Tuskegee Airmen used P-40s for advanced fighter trainer and flew them early in war in North Africa.

When they moved to Taranto, Italy they flew the Bell P-39 Airacobra which was slower than the top of the line German and Italian fighters.

They also flew Republic P-47 Thunderbolts (Jugs) on bomber escort missions. Started practice of painting tail surfaces red and got nick name of "Red Tails" and because of great job of escorting, nick changed to "Red Tailed Angels".

Main fighter flown by them from 1944 to end of war was several models of the North American P-51 Mustang.
"B" and "C" models with the green house canopy and turtle deck, powered by the 1,150 hp Allison engine.
The "D" model with bubble canopy, powered by the 1,590 hp Rolls-Royce Merlin engine.

They flew the P-51 with the following color: Every airplane had red propeller spinners and red wing bands with all-red tail surfaces. Variations for each squadron included: the 99th had white trim tabs, the 100th used back on their trim tabs, the 301st used blue and the 302nd painted their yellow. In addition, the area aft of the propeller was painted with squadron colors: the 99th used a dark blue and white checkerboard, the 100th used solid red, the 301st painted theirs red and blue, while the 302nd used alternate red and yellow horizontal stripes. Each pilot painted slogans, names, pictures, caricatures, etc. based on his own preference.

This picture, note just rudder painted red.

Here is my new project. HET-F18 Hornet in the Blue Angel scheme. It is an EDF powered by a Mega brushless motor and Thunderpower 3s2p 4200 .

Billyfrost - March 29, 2005 01:55 PM (GMT)
New project HET-F4D Skyray. It will be powered by a Wemotec Mini fan and a Mega 16/15/2 Brushless motor.

Billyfrost - April 7, 2005 06:29 PM (GMT)
O.K. I now have a new project that will be very cool. It will be a long term project, as most all the parts are German made and have to be imported from Germany. This is a 1/6 scale Jet and will be powered by twin Shubueler fan units. Each fan is rated to 50,000 RPM. Each fan will be powered by a brushless motor running on 26.4 volts. The wingspan is 78.75 inches. The jet will have retracts and working gear doors. So all you P-51 fliers out there better beware as Baron Von Frostinstein will soon be on your 6!

alvinonline - April 8, 2005 02:58 AM (GMT)
Very Nice Mr. Billy.

I will be impressed.

One of my fav war birds.

You da electric man.

Argh! :pirate:

waynemiller - April 15, 2005 12:01 PM (GMT)
The electric airforce at Irvington Field is getting stronger. Here is a photo of my
new Alfa La-7, a Russian WWII fighter. It has a MP Jet Outrunner brushless motor.
Jeti 18 speed controller, Hitec Micro 555 Rx, and a Thunder Power 1350 mah Li-poly
battery. It's finished and ready to fly.

I've also finished my TopFlite GS P-51 ARF. I've run the Brison 3.2
a couple of times and its great with a idle of 1259 rpm without any
engine ajustments. The plane has a final weight of 21 lb. 11 oz. I
couldn't stand loocking at a "bare" cockpit area, so I got a cool pilot
from Aces of Iron, and made a gunsight & equipment for the rear cockpit
area from styene plastic. I'll bring it to the upcoming scale fly-in.

Great job Wayne! Now we can dogfight. My FW-190 vs. the Lavochkin and Me-262 vs. P-51. Too bad the allied aircraft were outclassed in both cases! Good thing we had better pilots and more planes. Hats off again to the 8th Airforce!!

Billyfrost - April 19, 2005 12:53 PM (GMT)
Update: F4D Skyray is a success!! Very fast and fly's geat.

Justin P. - April 26, 2005 04:39 AM (GMT)
This is my new project for the week.

I just got through putting it together to day. I have been working on it on and off for a couple of days, and am almost done.

I have motor, servos, speed controller, and etc. waiting for me to pick up at hobbytown. It will be out in a couple of weeks.

I will have the following:

Eflite 400 3700kv brushless
2000 Mah 3 cell batt
Hitec HS 55 servos
Eflite 20 amp speed controller

It weighs very little so it should fly really well with that setup.

I believe this is going to be my next project in a couple of months.

Here is my new EDF. This will replace my MiG that Roger now has. When it is completed Roger and I will be able dogfight Korean style!!

alvinonline - June 20, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
Very Good Mr. Billy.

You are really keeping a wide variety of electric jets coming out of your "Skunk Works" for our viewing pleasure and entertainment.

If you could have been at the Cub Fly-In with an electric Cub, all your old scale buds would have been so proud.

We all missed your presence, but hope you caught a lot of fish.

Here is my new F-86 soon to be protecting ACMA field from enemy MiG's.

Success!! F-86 flew great yesterday. Put several flights on it and everything worked great.

alvinonline - June 24, 2005 03:48 PM (GMT)
Yes it did fly and look great.

Did its job also.
If there was a Mig anywhere around Irvington Field, I did not see it in the air.

Billy, reckon your Mig could do some Straffing Runs on that peskie chicken?
I am sure that Malbis and Frank would appreciate it.

I'd bet that the chicken's life span is directly porportional to the amount of food in the fridge!!!!!!!!!!!!

;)

Don Koval - June 24, 2005 06:42 PM (GMT)
Hmmmmmm :D Moveing chicken bombing targets

alvinonline - June 24, 2005 07:25 PM (GMT)
Case against the field chicken:

Yesterday at field, chicken was strutting around clucking.

I mentioned that something needed to be done with chicken. Maybe pellet gun practice.

Billy asked if the chicken had been s***ing anywhere at field.

We looked over at chicken and "On Que", he/she dropped a load on the pit area carpet.
We all thought that was funny.

Little later, Franks dog Malbis was spotted rolling around all in the chicken poo. Cleaned up the carpet real good.
We thought that was also funny.

Little more later, Malbis was rearing up on Frank and Frank forgot and was justa rubbing and petting Malbis.
We thought that was really funny.

Needless to say, Malbis got a bath right then, before it was Saturday night or she might have had to room with the chicken at field.
:roflmao: :hysterical:

I'm in the process of finishing up my latest project a Flying Styro P-38. The P-38 is powered by twin AXi 2208/24 brushless motors both with individual Jeti Advance 08 Plus ESC's. The power source is 2 TP1320 mah LiPoly batteries. Both motors are wired in parallel as are the LiPoly batteries. The double parallel connections were made with a section of FMA parallel connection board. Everything works correctly and it should show up at the field when I finish programming the radio.
