Title: WEDNESDAY FLYING
Description: Test day

CRASH 22 - September 30, 2009 12:01 AM (GMT)
:bigplane: I'll be going to field Wednesday around 2:00 pm.

I have a few planes to test out.

I have the NEW :newstuff: DOUBLE TROUBLE II.

All the fun of the original D.T. :yickes: But a pound and half lighter.

The Mega Spad now has an os fx .90 and wheels. No more hand launch.

Have fun flying.

CRASH 22 - September 30, 2009 10:56 PM (GMT)
:bigplane: With gary's help, I added an OS fx.90 and some landing gear to the Mega - Spad .

The wing is 12 ft long. I made it from three combat wings.

I glued them together on one spar.

Last sunday we tryed to hand launch it. It didn't work.

Broke the engine off.

I have done that in the past, but with a strong head wind.

So now we have WHEELS

I got to the field around 2:00 pm.

F D, Wes B.,and Russell were already there.

Well ,Frits had to tell Wes about Dot's plane.

So we has a 10 min delay to let Wes load his trailer and move it over by the portolets. ( Like that was a safe place.)

I stared up the engine, muffler came off.

I started it again, it was runinng real nice.

With Flying Dutchman on the controls, I set the large bird out on the middle of the runway.

I took off real well .

It made about 1/2 a lap, and just as Dutchman started to trim it in , it started to twich in the twat. :yickes:

Then He Fritzed it :banghead: .

I think Russell had Frit's video camera when it happened.

Damage Report. Damage was little. :woohoo:

Broke prop - standard

Dirt in engine - standard

The fuse was a little twisted, But straighten out well.

The wing looked real bad, But it didn't break the spar.

It went back together real nice and the glue is drying now.

I'm going to add some yard sticks on the wing to the stab.

I think with these corrections it might work.

Were close.

I can't wait to see the video.

F D - THANKS for all your help and esp the video. ( And Russell too.)

Yes, I took the video of your test flight and also flew my plane for 20 minutes plus and of course ran it out of fuel. Makes life easier to empty the tank out in flight than to pump out remaining fuel, makes for longer flights too. :woohoo:

And a couple of nice videos they were, Russell. Thanks!

Here's a picture of CRASH 22 and his latest, the Double Trouble 2.
He wouldn't let me fly it though. I wonder if he was afraid I'd FritsIt©...

He was leaving for a flying event in Texas on Thursday morning.
He said he'd fly it himself... :yickes:

Wes flew his large Extra-260 3D plane:

:) Well I made it to Denton TX.

I didn't fly the DTII, because even if the flight went well we still could knock an engine off on landing.

I did rebuild the Mega-Spad. It will get another go round on Saturday.

I hope to have it on video.
