Title: Repairing Fabric

Osirus711 - January 8, 2009 11:04 PM (GMT)
Ok, so I bought a plane a while back and I am refinishing it....It seems to have been covered in fabric & dope and painted. The paint actually peeled off easier than covering (weird) so now I am down to a fabric covered airplane I want to repaint. There are a few dings in it, not hard to fix on the wood, but I'm not sure how to patch a hole in the wing. Unfortunately I dont know much about that method of covering and looking for a little advice...... :D

I hope you find some...
Even though I showed my wife how to use the brand-new sewing machine I bought her after we got married many moons ago, sewing has never been MY forte...

Henry or Joe would be the ones to ask...

Henry's is as old as dirt so silk and dope is a pretty recent covering technique for him!!! ;)

I did it once but don't remember exactly how to do it...

Get one of those big Iron On Cloth Patches they make for when you get a hole in your jeans, before holes became popular. ;) :P

I say recover the wing with Solartex and paint, but that's me. :D
