Title: The Pterodactyl Flies!

Flying Dutchman - December 30, 2008 02:49 AM (GMT)
Sanderson’s Advanced Skunk Works of Outrageous Technology (SASkWOT) can add one more successful aircraft to its list. It's the "Pterodactyl." (Forum member plane crazy coined that name and it stuck...). It's patterned after a glider, of all things...
Here it is with its creator, Robert.

I was honored to be chosen as the test pilot, of course...
And the Pterodactyl flew! So far it's had two successful flights. Robert flew it most of its second flight as you can see here in this video:

Oh, and it has a couple dozen LEDs buried in the wing, so hopefully the Pterodactyl will burn up the night sky at the New Year's Eve Party & Nite Fly Wednesday!

Too KEWL... Thanks for the video.... Looks like it should just start flappping its wings... and swoop down and pick up a calf... or lamb... or... somekinda small animal.. Can't wait to see it all lit up at night...

Well, I was afraid that just one flap (or one loop) would fold up its wings! That's why you could hear me say "gently" in the video as Robert came in for a low pass... :D

The Pterodactyl is supposed to fly again this weekend...
But the weather.

:spin: What the chance that it might quit raining Sunday afternoon??

Flying Dutchman - January 4, 2009 12:18 AM (GMT)
According to the Field Weather on our ACMA club Website > http://www.acma-rc.com/index.html, this is what it looks like for Sunday:

"A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy dense fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Southwest wind around 5 mph."

Chance of thunderstorms in only 40%. The word "rain" is not mentioned...
In other words, just about PERFECT!
Except the Pterodactyl will pretty much disappear against the sky... :yickes:
But I'll be there around 1:00...

Flying Dutchman - January 4, 2009 01:00 AM (GMT)
I'm counting on you Robert!
Weather is looking fine...
