Title: Irvington Field Closed
Description: until further notice.

alvinonline - September 21, 2004 12:40 AM (GMT)
I just got an e-mail from Andy informing that ACMA's Irvington Field has been closed for our club use by the county.
I don't have the details yet, but probably related to hurricane debris collection point for further desposal.

Happened to the old GCRC's flying site dowm on Deakle Road after hurricane Frederick. Took a few months to get over it back then, but less destruction in Mobile county this time around so maybe not so long.

Wow, hope it doesn't last long. Sounds like things will be picking up at the battleship if we can get in there..... wonder if silver hill will be available too? Bummer, no more cook outs..... events either, whew..... aaakkkkkkk

lol, I'm going thru some terrible withdrawal symptoms. First electric dependancy, then telephone, cable, internet and now flying. When you all see me in a couple of months I'll be chain smoking about 15 packs a day, lol.

Maybe we can get together for a special meeting, like between regular meeting dates.
Sort of help hold group together without the field to meet up.

We could eat, smoke, and grief together.

NO flying for 8 weeks, Looks like a good time for a work party. :D

Some of the roof on field buildings got repaired with new tin Friday.

Andy, Mr. Anderson, Ray, Homer, and myself worked on it a few hours.
The lawnmower room, kitchen, and BBQing area got all fixed up so the new TS rain will not get in there.

Looking some better now.

Sounds good. You guys should have posted that you were going to work on the field so we could all come help/supervise ;) Any news on when the field might open up again? Sunday flying? etc. It's been so long I'm going to have to re-learn everyone's name again, lol.

Hi Jon,
The work was done on sort of quick notice.
Andy called me as he was on way to field with tin and asked me come help if could.

No change in time line of getting use of field back that I know of.
We talked to the C of Es man on duty and he did not know anything either except that there was still lots of debri to be picked up along roads. :crying:

We will have to have one h**l of a field grand reopening day with plenty flying, food, prizes, food, hugs & kisses all around, food, 1st crash AI (After Ivan), and did I mention, FOOD  .
Yall are missing the flying at field and I am missing all the good cooking/eating we used to do there. Of course I could go down and cook and eat, but just not the same, especialy without the ice cream that Cameron made dad James pick up on way to field.

Don't forget club meeting Tuesday night, Oct. 12.
We can catch up on bull shitting and eating for sure.
