Title: Combat, Fathers Day
Description: Combat
TONY F - June 12, 2008 09:21 PM (GMT)
If I am looking right combat is this Sunday and that also is fathers day.
Flying Dutchman - June 13, 2008 12:44 AM (GMT)
You must have spent too much time in the sun when you were in Gulf Shores... B)
If I'm correct — and there's always a great chance of that — combat is on the THIRD Sunday of the month...
Yeah, I know... Alvin's marquis is slightly misleading as it doesn't tell you of the date... <_<
My Pits Report does, but I know you don't read it... <_<

This I know.
This Sunday is June 15, 2008.
This Sunday is Father's Day.
This Sunday is third Sunday of month.
This Sunday is Combat Day.
Frits' statements are factually correct, but his allusion that this Sunday is not the third Sunday of month or Combat Day, is not correct. <_<
Don Koval - June 13, 2008 02:53 AM (GMT)
Darn!!!!!! I didn't think of this sunday being combat and fathers day :o
We could have Changed, Fathers Day, to next sunday.

Frits it's OK. :itsok:
Flying Dutchman - June 13, 2008 01:22 PM (GMT)
You are correct. I looked at the calendar wrong.
The 15th is the 3rd Sunday of the month, and if Don says it's combat day then it IS...
:embarrassed:

:bigplane: Another GREAT day of combat.
It was raining when I arrived at the field. "Where is Justin" became the cry of the afternoon. Being that He was tied with Andrew for Combat leader, We all expected him to defend his title.
:pilot: The RAIN wasn't stopping Andrew, He was test flying his coro trainer in the rain.
:hmm: That LONG walk to get your plane becomes a lot longer in the rain.
 Not wanting to let Andrew have all the fun, I got out the coro delta wing.
I fired up the engine, handed Fritz the transmitter, throught it out in the rain.
It goes 10 ft then SPLAT!!!
Needs more up throw!
Try again,
Flies GREAT.
Fritz said " Don't Touch Anything!!"
:parachute: WE could have had the first round of combat in the rain, but we waited for it to Quit.
Tim tryed a test flight on his combat wing.
TJR was on the hand-launch, He looked like he was skipping rope as the plane ground looped in.
We took a time out so Tim could fix his plane.
So, with extra time before Combat,
 I added two 3 ft. stickes to the wing of the Delta wing, ( For added stability) just before combat.
ROUND ONE - Not much action in round one, My motor over heated with 2:00 min. remaining. Some how Andrew was the only plane flying for the last 2 min.
ROUND TWO - A lot of action in round two. A NEW combatter was flying an electric Spitfire Foamy thing. He went into combat knowing We got points for hitting others planes. His streamer didn't unwrap. He still put up a good fight and finished the round. At the end of round two,( after Don substracted one point for my Imaginatory finish of round one) Andrew was tied with Frtiz and I for 1st.
ROUND THREE - A lot of action, four planes going at it. No cuts. With 30 sec. left, It LOOKS like we might out last Andrew, When I hear a loud THUMP.
:spin: CONTACT with Andrew. One of my 3 ft. sticks is GONE.
Fritz Yells " I can only turn Left" as he holds a full right Rudder ( I didn't have the heart to tell him there is no rudder on that plane)
"Pretend it's NASCAR" I said as the plane continued turning left, It finally made a left turn into the ground.
It doesn't fly well with just one stick.
:parachute: Mear seconds after my midair with Andrew, BOOM, I look up to see Andrew in a Flat spin, with balsa & foam chips raining down from his plane.
He pulls out of the flat spin with the canopy of the foamy spitfire lodged into his wing.
( I hope the New Guy comes back.)
:woohoo: That's TWO midairs (ONLY two of the day) in the last 30 sec.
:fuming: Andrew hit the foamy with 3 sec. left on the clock.
Don said "All the pieces were still flying (Falling) at the end of the round, So the foamy got one point for "finishing" the round.
So, Andrew was KING of the day. @#&%$$@
I think we should take up a collection , $5.00 a pilot, And give it to" Whoever" takes OUT Andrew!!
A GREAT TIME was had by all.

:bigplane: Fritz and TJR should have some Combat pictures.
 I can't wait to see them.
Johnny_J - June 16, 2008 07:44 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the report Robert!
Wish I could have been there! :hmm:
Flying Dutchman - June 16, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
Robert and his Combat Triangle. Yep, those are three ft. long dowels at each wing tip...

Thanks for the nice closeup shots, TJ!

After Andrew knocked one dowel off, we found out that the Triangle can't fly with just one. It immediately went into a spin and crashed! But it's fixable. Of course! It's plastic!

When Billy Toliver and Andrew's Aircore plane collided, the little electric Spitfire blew into many pieces, but one stayed stuck in the Aircore's wing!
Andrew flew it to a normal landing...

Andrew won WITHOUT MAKING ANY CUTS by wreaking lots of havoc on the others...

And someone had better watch out next month!

Great combat, Don!
Robert S. - June 17, 2008 01:11 AM (GMT)
:bigplane: FAST PLANES, GOOD FOOD, GREAT FRIENDS, You can't beat that!!
Don Koval - June 17, 2008 04:08 AM (GMT)
Robert,
That is a great report you did on combat
If you would edit it and add this, we will use it as the official report....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We had four pilots on this Father's Day Combat.
Andrew Smith,Tim McLeod, Robert Sanderson, and Billy Toliver..
This was Billy's first time in combat, and I was sad :( to see his plane get "TOTALED OUT" in the last few seconds of the last round.......
Andrew Smith took the win with 5 points :twocents:  Robert and Billy had 2 points each to tie for 2nd place...........
Thanks to the spotters for your help

Yes!!! But, if the streamer is still attached to the tail of the plane; you do not get the point for a cut. Even if the tail is not attached to the fuse anymore.
