Title: EAA Fly-In at St. Elmo, June 14th
Mike - June 9, 2008 02:19 PM (GMT)
I haven't seen mention of it on the forum, other than in Frits' Pits Report. Will any club members be doing a demo this time around, and does anyone know what time everything usually gets started?

I was thinking about it, but I don't think it'll fit in my "ride." I'll probably try to be there around 9-9:30 or so. We'll be parking on the flight line.

Jon/Mike,
Is this going to be done like the Bay Minette air shop last year, with static displays and flight demos? Want some helicopter representation?
jonkoppisch - June 9, 2008 05:32 PM (GMT)
Bring it out!! Be ready to fly, you never know!!!
lrogers - June 9, 2008 07:41 PM (GMT)
Will we going out as a group, if so, where when will we be meeting?
jonkoppisch - June 9, 2008 07:45 PM (GMT)
We're planning on meeting at the airport. Joe is going early to get us a spot
lrogers - June 9, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
Have you all decided on a time yet?

At St. Elmo, What type of RC planes do they want flown for there event ????
Flying Dutchman - June 10, 2008 02:29 AM (GMT)
Nice turbine jets, nice 1/4 scale warbirds, nice large 3D planes, nice big sport planes, nice helicopters, I would suggest...
After all, it's also a sort of PR thing... :)

I think that the hit of the show would be the team of Robert/Frits and a spad plane demo. :sturthepot: :woohoo:

Unlike blabbering Alvin, you are very observant, Mike... :D

The weather is not looking good; 80% chance of rain/thunderstorms.
Mike - June 13, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)
Well I canceled the 152 I had reserved for tomorrow, so I won't be flying in. If by some chance the weather is clear for more than a few hours I might still head out and see if anyone shows up.
I wonder if they have an alternate date in case of a rain out?
Flying Dutchman - June 13, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
I intend to be swing by around 11:00 to take pictures of anyone there... :o

In spite of threatening weather I went to St. Elmo Airport. Several ACMA members and their planes showed up.
I got there a bit late and missed seeing the modelers fly the first time. But later they got another chance, and flew again.

It rained.

Bill Culberson took Rob up in the L-29 jet.

Apparently the jet is also used as a kiddie ride...
