Title: Motion to move Armageddon Date
Description: Change of date request

TJR - April 7, 2008 03:48 PM (GMT)
I saw where it's been posted in the Pits Report that Armageddon will be June 7th. Because of my schedule I'm only home every other weekend and I cannot attend meetings because I'm on my way to work. I'd like someone to make a motion on my behalf (by proxy) to have the date of Armageddon moved either one week earlier (Memorial Day weekend) or one week later (probably better), so that I may participate. I know it might be asking much to change dates for one person, but I thought I'd try. :D

Flying Dutchman - April 7, 2008 06:00 PM (GMT)
Hmmmm... That may be (no — WILL be) tough to accomplish, TJR!

Rob picked that date because it doesn't conflict with other events. I know that he cannot move it one week later, for sure, because the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association, I believe) wants him and Bill to fly their turbine models at the air show in St. Elmo like they did last year...

You could try begging Rob to move it earlier!...

jonkoppisch - April 7, 2008 08:09 PM (GMT)
I haven't seen anything about the St Elmo Fly in???? Have you heard any more about it??

June 14th?

St Elmo and Roy E Ray are always HARD to schedule as they don't seem to let anyone know until the day they have it!!!!! ARRRGGGGG!!!!

Yeah, I was just looking this morning to see if those two had been scheduled but there was nothing.

And then the Fairhope Festival of Flight's website still has last year's dates, but the City of Fairhope's official site does say that this year's show will be May 17.

jonkoppisch - April 7, 2008 08:28 PM (GMT)
I saw that about Fairhope too... I heard that people are a little slower down south but....

Flying Dutchman - April 7, 2008 09:10 PM (GMT)
Rob just e-mailed me and said May 31st is okay with him.

I told Rob that I would bring up the change from June 7 to May 31st at this Tuesday's club meeting.

Flying Dutchman - April 7, 2008 09:16 PM (GMT)
If anyone finds out anything (words, flier, etc.) about those full-scale fly-ins you are talking about, LET ME KNOW, so I can pass it on to ALL club members.

No one (in this club) ever let's me know anything... <_<

Mike - April 7, 2008 09:44 PM (GMT)
I think Memorial Day weekend is a bad idea (sorry TJ). Somebody vote against that at the meeting for me, I can't make it. :D

jonkoppisch - April 7, 2008 09:47 PM (GMT)
I emailed the list that I have.....

Alvin ,YOU will have to be there. YOU are the HEAD COOK. :boxers: :boxers:

PropBuster - April 8, 2008 05:12 AM (GMT)
June 7th works better for me also. :hmm:

Sorry TJ ...

Flying Dutchman - April 8, 2008 11:46 AM (GMT)
It'll be decided at the meeting tonight!... :D
Not sure if Robert's Rules of Order allows me to make motions for three people at the meeting, so we can just do it here mathematically:

Let's see...
TJR wants to move it earlier...
And Mike wants to leave it where it is.
PropBuster also does not want to change.
And Alvin would like it unchanged, but his vote simply doesn't count because he probably doesn't care, and just wants to be heard, I'm sure... <_<

So, who in favor of change?
That's TWO   and ONE , leaving it UNCHANGED... :o

Hmmmmm... TJR?... :hmm:

jturner - April 8, 2008 04:11 PM (GMT)
I vote to leave it like it is. JT..

Flying Dutchman - April 8, 2008 04:32 PM (GMT)
Well, I'm sure the voting will be done this evening at the meeting... :D

By the way, Mike, my iMac onboard calendar, two of my paper wall calendars, and a Google search all say the following:

• May 26, 2008: Memorial Day (observed) [last Monday in May]

:o

Ah...I was going by what TJ had said. So I guess the weekend before isn't Memorial Day weekend. I still don't want it moved though. :)

Flying Dutchman - April 9, 2008 01:16 AM (GMT)
Here is the verdict...

The Armageddon Fun Fly date remains the way it was voted in to start with, June 7...

Sorry, TJR... :(

TJR - April 9, 2008 07:17 PM (GMT)
Well, bummer :( . That's two events I won't be able to attend (I have to work the weekend of the Scale Warbird Fly-In also). It was worth a try though. I was so looking forward to it this year.

Osirus711 - April 9, 2008 09:35 PM (GMT)
Speaking of events...Are we having another AMA jamboree this year?

Flying Dutchman - April 9, 2008 10:46 PM (GMT)
No one has mentioned it...

I'll ask Andy.

lloyderc - April 18, 2008 01:02 AM (GMT)
