Title: Club House Concrete Project
Description: Concrete project
BenHere - March 14, 2008 09:01 PM (GMT)
Anyone very good at trimming the bottom of a door on the Kitchen? The left door will probably need to be removed before the concrete is poured, and the bottom trimmed off about 2 inches in order to open properly. There is a 2X4 on the bottom which will have to be unscrewed, and moved higher as part of the "security system" (stove bolt holding hinge on) I could do it, but, i don't have a Circular saw. I won't be at the field this weekend, unless possibly LATE both days. If anyone has a saw they wouldn't mind loaning, leave it in the kitchen, and i will pick it up. Once the conrete is down we'll be able to determine the angle needed. I'm working on getting some concrete from a local company. (excess from a job)... So have delayed pouring it till early part of next week. WAtch your head if walking from west to east... from parking area onto the patio area. That 2X8 doesn't move a bit when you try to move it with your NOGGIN. (ask me how i know) :banghead:

I have a circular saw, BenHere... I'll bring it...
Not to tell you what to do (because you are the Head Kitchen Remodeling Project Manager now...), but why don't we get commitments from some more volunteers and try to do it next weekend?
I can provide some 2X4s... (DO NOT use the lumber on the west side of the pavilion, please, that's for Jim Quint to build another bench out of...)
Or were you planning to frame it as soon as possible, so it'll be ready for the concrete whenever that is? If so, just let me know when and I can be there to help.

Thanks guys, Take a look tommorrow at the form boards that are up. There is about a 2 inch slope from existing concrete to back of new area. After remeasuring tho, i think it's going to take closer to a yard and half of concrete. I called a company today, to see about getting concrete from an over order. The person i talked with said that happens usually a few times a weeek. No one wants to run short. She said she would call, so since it looked like rain today i decided to wait till next week to pour. If she doesn't call, i'm thinking go ahead and use the Tow Behinds. I'm also thinking might as well pour the area behind left door in kitchen, to make it level with existing floor. If anyone has any other ideas let me know.. Hopefully, early in the week, we'll be able to finish it up. I'll be at field late sunday.

Well, it's DONE!
Ben, Russell, Alvin, Robert and I were there when the concrete truck arrived.
It's all done!
Thanks to Ben for taking on this project at the last club meeting and actually finishing it within ten days. (A record for the club, I believe...)
Thanks to Robert for bringing food and cooking some good grub... :P
The slab looks great!
When you see me, you can kick me for forgetting my camera...
BTW - Watch your head when you walk into the kitchen from the west... :yickes: :ouch: :crying:
alvinonline - March 20, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
Yep, all finished.
Ben, Russell, and I stayed till dark waiting for concrete to set up enough so we could get on it to hang the doors back and lock them.
While I was telling some tall stories to a napping Russell, Ben did clean up work on the gas grill. Got it looking and smelling better.
Got a little more touch up work on the doors for better fit and I am going to get some concrete squares to finish off little area north of new slab real nice and high and dry.
Jeff, if you read this, I need to borrow the wheel barrow and a rake out of your heavy equipment shed.
TONY F - March 20, 2008 02:15 AM (GMT)
Thanks to all I bet it looks real nice

Ben, by the time I got there, you wuz gone.
Russell showed up and had the correct screws and reinstalled the handle on the gas grill.
I worked some on the doors and they no longer drag or hangup anywhere when closing.
We picked up some around the area.
BenHere - March 21, 2008 01:45 AM (GMT)
Way to go Russell, Sorrry, i missed you guys, i was there from about 11 til 1.. then decided i better get some other errands done. WE do have quite a bit of trash and debris to pick up, to really clean up. I did get the form boards removed, and the bolts back in the door, but, we probably still need to reinforce the bottom on the left side. Thanks again for all yall's help.
alvinonline - March 22, 2008 12:45 AM (GMT)
Ben,
Today I got the rest of screws in the door and all the reinforcement pieces installed and that bolt in the bottom left hinge.
Looks like it is all completely finished now.
On a side note, our lock on the field gate is getting stubborn to unlock and lock.
Anyone with a can of WD-40 passing by the gate lock, how about giving the lock a good spray and work the lock a few times to get it free working.
BenHere - March 22, 2008 12:56 AM (GMT)
yeah.. i noticed the lock yesterday.. on the gate. I ended up having to use key, to lock it.. I'll try to bring a can of wd-40 with me tommorrow. Hopefully, EVERYONE won't oil it up.. might get kinda messsy.. :yickes:
