Title: New planes
Description: new projects in shop

coolheat - March 10, 2008 10:25 PM (GMT)
This is my new gas plane. It has the 20cc zenoah engine in it. I hear it sucks down batteries pretty good. Guess I will find out. I am waiting on my step son to bring my trailer back so I can load it up without having to take off the wing. Yes I am lazy.

I guess I'm sort of new to this...
A 20 cc engine usually refers to a combustion engine...

So — just for my education — HOW does that type of engine "suck down batteries pretty good"? :o

:(

Avistar 2 - March 10, 2008 11:55 PM (GMT)
 OH GEZZZ,
any glow engine that uses nitro is a combustion engine...

Electric planes have motors

no matter what brand name it is it has a piston >combustion engine...

Justin P. - March 11, 2008 12:07 AM (GMT)
He means that it sucks the ignition battery down.

coolheat - March 11, 2008 12:10 AM (GMT)
The zenoah has an electronic ignition. The manual said to use at least a 1500 mah battery, but according to Russell and Wayne it will only last a couple of minutes. I will fire it up and see how long it will run.

Russell flying Tigers - March 11, 2008 12:13 AM (GMT)
The Zenoah 20cc engine is a gas engine and if it has the new electronic ignition it probaby will use up the battery. I'm using a nicad 2,400 mah on mine and expect 1 flight of about 15 minites give or take a few. You will only get 1 flight. It was recommended to me to use a metal hydride battery with a mah of 6,000. When I fly my H9 1/4 scale cub more when the weather gets warmer then I'll purchase the bigger battery. Your plane really looks nice. I hope this helps.

Avistar 2 - March 11, 2008 12:15 AM (GMT)
can it be replaced with just O.S ?
I never heard of a Nitro plane with electronic igntion before,
must be costly model.

coolheat - March 11, 2008 12:24 AM (GMT)
I don't know about cost. My wife bought it. Isn't that great. She also let me retire, so now I play all week, sometimes with her!!!

Avistar 2 - March 11, 2008 12:29 AM (GMT)
She must be very rich, to spoil you like that, OH YOUR SO BLESSED.
Well I bet you find a way to slow the drain down to give you 4 flights in.

lloyderc - March 11, 2008 12:39 AM (GMT)
:D looks good, the minivan would be a tight sqeeze :o

Avistar 2 - March 11, 2008 12:46 AM (GMT)
Just how big is that RC model is anyway ?
thinking of getting a trailer?

Flying Dutchman - March 11, 2008 02:43 AM (GMT)
Well, nice to know Russell is still around...

Didn't coolheat just say that it was a GASOLINE engine, Avistar2?
Not NITRO, GAS!

Pay attention! <_<

Avistar 2 - March 11, 2008 03:22 AM (GMT)
;) He said Gas Plane, Unless you talking about 2 cycle engine. or a stright gas engine like a briggs & straton engine.
:twocents: That had to be at least a good size plane.
:hmm: You better not be thinking about propane or methane gas dutchman.

Flying Dutchman - March 11, 2008 01:18 PM (GMT)
I believe that in most parts of the country when modelers refer to a GAS engine they mean a GASoline engine and a NITRO engine is one that burns NITROmethane...

No one said anything about propane or methane... <_<

Avistar 2 - March 11, 2008 01:35 PM (GMT)
Well he might need a traler to hual that baby to the feild.

BenHere - March 11, 2008 01:59 PM (GMT)
Methane trailer? or Propane trailer? Nitro mite get too hot. Price of Gasoline mite be cheaper.... How many mpg dooo you get driving a trailer anyway?

Avistar 2 - March 11, 2008 02:08 PM (GMT)
Gas! has gone up again empty those pockets and fill up.

alvinonline - March 11, 2008 05:38 PM (GMT)

Bulletman - March 11, 2008 05:57 PM (GMT)
After reading this i dont know which of my planes is nitro and which is gas or should i put a propane tank on my trailor and do my nitro planes need an ignition system. lol

BenHere - March 11, 2008 07:00 PM (GMT)
welll... i'm certainly no expert, but, i'd say yes.. maybe, no... could be.. and probly.. (not in that order tho)...

lahughes3 - March 11, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)

Avistar 2 - March 11, 2008 10:47 PM (GMT)

Read my earlier post and you'll know how to tell.
I made it so easy even Avistar2 would know, but I think it just went by him... <_<

Alvin, can we have an emoticon that has something whooshing over the head?

I think I'll be using it a lot for someone else on this Forum... <_<

Your the only person I know who use mixed RC parts to build a RC plane .

Again, I have no idea what the he|| you are talking about, Avistar2. ... Mixed RC parts? <_<

If you are talking about those strange planes I have been flying — they belong to Robert S. on this forum. I have been the test pilot for ALL his airplanes, and they are a challenge to fly...
If you read the recent Pits Reports (accessible from this Forum), you'd know...

Perhaps you have trouble reading?... Perhaps you can read but have trouble understanding what you read?...

I have been easy on you, Avistar2. But be aware that if you use my name, or accuse me of something that is not based on facts, you WILL hear from me!

Avistar 2 - March 12, 2008 05:41 PM (GMT)
:) Yeah , Care to fly a lawn mower ?

BenHere - March 12, 2008 05:48 PM (GMT)
Flying lawnmower??? hmmmm.. i'm sure if it can be flown.... Dutchman could do it. Would that be Gasoline, Methane, Propane, or Nitro? Cool way to cut the grass.

Avistar 2 - March 12, 2008 06:03 PM (GMT)
There is a model like it use a the largest O.S nitro engine.

Flying Dutchman - March 12, 2008 08:24 PM (GMT)
No, I use mine as intended.

I push it! :P

There, Now you understand?

Flying Dutchman - March 13, 2008 01:17 PM (GMT)
I understood all along, Avistar2...

There was a local guy who flew one of those in our area. He was even featured on some TV show...

How appropriate — flying bull!
A lot of that on this Forum...
