I want to go "Whole Hog" You know, glass it and put panel lines etc. It will have the scale cockpit, scale engine kit, Century Jet retracts, tail retract, and for power, a YS 110 four stroke.
I will post up more as I get it done. If you have any tips, PLEASE let me know.

:bigplane: In today's RC that is about as "Old school" as you can get. :hyper: I can't wait to watch it come together.
Mike - February 23, 2008 04:47 AM (GMT)
Ah, I love this phase of a project where everything fits together and you make a pile of wood look like an airplane. It's later on when they don't fit and you have to make it function like an airplane that gets me.
4star40 - February 23, 2008 07:26 AM (GMT)
It looks awesome dude! That is not as awesome as my new trumpet... But AWESOME, I will see it in 2 weeks and we will have to fly all spring break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lahughes3 - February 23, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
Mike, I am with you!! so far things are going ok, but just wait 'till later. There will be lot's of cussing i'm sure. L>T> I am sure it isn't as awesome as your trumpet, but it will do for me. Call me! I think I made "history" yesterday!

Coming along nicely!
Mike - February 24, 2008 02:08 AM (GMT)
There was a really nicely detailed Top Flite P-47 in the WWII room at the Seattle Museum of Flight today. Tons of detail including panel lines and rivets. Unfortunately my camera on my phone doesn't have a flash. :(
BUCKSHOT - February 24, 2008 01:29 PM (GMT)

Mike. thanks for the picture!!!
Buckshot, That's great! I have read that this plane is a great flyer. I hope that with all I am doing I can keep the weight down some. I am not sure how I will glass it yet, so many different methods!

Glassing it will make it easier to add the rivets and panel lines!
lahughes3 - March 2, 2008 12:33 AM (GMT)
Ok............... I now have the stab and fin epoxied in. After many mess-ups, :banghead: I got it done.

lahughes3 - March 2, 2008 07:51 AM (GMT)

lahughes3 - March 2, 2008 03:35 PM (GMT)
It is 1/7 scale. I'm going to put a YS 110 in it.
lahughes3 - March 4, 2008 02:19 AM (GMT)
Got a little more done tonight.
Wraped up the top half of the fuse, and layed in the formers, stringers, and wing crutches on the lower half.

Looking real good Mr.Lee  just DON'T let Mr.Frits do the test flight on it and you will be alright. :hysterical: :boxers: :sturthepot:

 Great Pix's lahughes3 ,I enjoy watching it come together. :penguin: Don't let the fact that Fritz has a R C maneuver named after him scare you. When it comes to flying unbalanced . untrimed ,non-straight an level flying model planes. He has the most Experience and in my opinion the best chance to land said aircraft in one piece. :bigplane: The other day He test flew my Little German H.O.R. ( hades On Rails). I had put the battery in the wrong place, ie, TAIL HEAVY. With a perfect hand launch, it shot straight up. :yickes: Realizing what I had done I just knew the Little H.O.R. was through. Fritz managed to land it with only a broken prop.( wish I could say that about my bowling Plane) But some times it takes a few good crashes :spin: to dail in an EXPERIMENTAL R C Plane.

You stick to your Mentor and Cub  and YOU will be all right, Tony... <_<
Thanks for the kind words, Robert. At least YOU understand!...
lahughes3 - March 5, 2008 01:17 AM (GMT)
Don't worry Frits, I'll be bugging you to maden this one when it's done!!
lahughes3 - March 7, 2008 12:25 AM (GMT)
Ok guys...... I need some help here. The kit is missing the tail wheel bracket among other things, so the guy at Top Flite said to go ahead and use a Robart retracting tali wheel setup. I have it in, and need some input on if the bulkhead is beefed up enough, so let me know what you think.

Mr.Lee I am not much of a builder but I think I would put a peice of plywood on the other side. It looks like you have room and the threads on the screws are long enough. Looking good.
4star40 - March 7, 2008 06:24 AM (GMT)
I wish I could build like that... It is a true art form. Very very nice dad.

Well, you COULD, if you paid attention to your dad's work, 4star40...
But I bet you'd rather ARF it, right? :D
lloyderc - March 7, 2008 11:51 PM (GMT)
:( :embarrassed: i wish i had time to build a kit :(
Johnny_J - March 8, 2008 05:28 AM (GMT)
As Tony said it wouldn't hurt to put an xtra piece in for the screws to grab.
Although I would be more concerned with thae thinned spot closest to you in the last photo.
Justin P. - March 8, 2008 11:02 AM (GMT)
I think it would be fine just the way it is.
It looks like you got a piece of ply on the front and back of the former. That should
be plenty.

You have to host the picture and hot link to the forum. You can use imageshack to do this.

Only two people at the field Saturday...
When these two get together it's time to put on your wading boots...
(click picture to enlarge)

It only gets worse when Alvin is around. With those three around at the same time there's enough bull$hit to cover the field...
All right, lloyderc, I know you took that picture of Justin's Sport-300 AFTER I went home, but,
through the magic which is Macintosh I will now post that picture you were unable to...
