Title: which new radio?
lrogers - February 16, 2008 01:41 PM (GMT)
These are the choices. All are good radios. If I go with the 72 mhz radios, all helos will be programed from jump street.
If I go with straight to the 2.4, the Sea King Project will be the first helo to use it, the others will stay w/the 9c and be transistioned as time and money permit.
which one would you get and why??????

Futaba 12ZHP 2.4GHz
Quad-Bearing Gimbals for smoothest motion and response, stick tension and detent are adjustable. and all the other neat features. Truly delux 12 ch radio.
I like Futaba brand little better than JR and you don't have the satelite reciever to fool with mounting and susceptible to damage.
Get on the 2.4 stuff right away for the Sea King for all the safety and peace of mind reasons SS provides.

Well, Rob and Seth haven't made this any easier, they quoted me VERY nice prices on all of the radios in question!
Jon, next time I'm at the field, I'd like to take a good look at your 12z if you don't mind.

It's now offical; I brought a 12ZH 2.4 ghz home with me today. Initial impressions are: WOW! :cloud9:
The sticks are silky smooth, the screen is easy to read, and switch layout is the same as the 9C I'm used too. I'll start going through the manual later tonight and see if I can make heads/tails out of it!
I'm going to use this in the Sea King/Vigor to start with and change the receivers out in the other helos as money/wife permit.
Rob and Seth gave me a VERY good "out-the-door-price" on the radio; THANKS GUYS!

The programming is totally different than the 9c..... Whew..

Larry,
Give us some more information on this "out-the-door-price" thing.
Is there some special discount that I am not aware of.
How does this work?
OBTW - I am happy that you are happy with your new radio.
:hyper:

I just asked Seth to give me the best price, inclusive of taxes (out the door) on this radio and the other 12's in the poll. He said he would to talk to Rob and would get back to me. I figured what the heck, worse case they'd tell me list price was the best they could do. Later that day, he quoted me a price that was better than Tower, Heliproz and just a bit more than Ron's. After I figured in the $5 discount coupons I got, the price was bettter than the lowest price I had found (@ Ron's).
End result, I got a killer radio at a great price and was able to support the LHS. It was a win-win!
John, you are correct about the programing! So far, I've managed to enter my name. :o
