Great weather! Nice crowd!
By coincidence both David Doss and Mike McLaughlin showed up with a new Lancair ready for their first flights. Very nice!

Cecil Mount brought his first trainer airplane, a Hangar 9 Raptor. The first flight was slow, and I did not dare loop or roll it.
The second flight went well with a 2-bladed prop instead ot the factory 3-bladed one. I rolled and looped it. It will be interesting to see how this "trainer" stacks up against the Hangar 9 P-51 Mustang trainer. The instructor will have to be on his toes, I suspect!

I also took up Paul Stacey's brand-new NexSTAR trainer... Paul did not want to use the buddy box... Thanks to Don for his ground support and engine tune-ups on Cecil's and Paul's new planes before their first flights.
The first flight went okay, but the plane reacted too fast to suit Paul. So he toned it down some and added exponential to the ailerons and elevator. It flew better.
But then, the plane got too far away, then went into a dive, and I took over... Too late!
The plane went straight in on the other side of the fence along Half Mile Road and hit the power lines. Thanks to Enzo for walking out to the crash site with me... I don't believe Paul will rebuild this one...

Enzo Finizola actually flew his electric Freedom today! Here he is with his wife Susan.

'Twas a stressful and eventful day... :(

 Nice Photos Flying Dutchman
Did you use a high speed setting on the digital camrea to get that in flight photo?

Last Saturday was a nice day too...
Lee and LT were present with the big Venus II.
(click picture to enlarge)

Lee had his brand-new Mustang and asked me to fly it for the first time. It flew just great!

Bill and Jim Bryan both flew the Mustang trainer this weekend. Both did very well!

TJ had a new plane, a Fusion X3D. Nice!

Russell had Don check out his new Super Decathlon. Then he looked at it for many minutes to check for "wing droop", whatever that is. He then asked me very formally if I would do the honors. Of course... The takeoff was not something I was proud of and it made Mike take notice there at the end of the south pits... The Decathlon flew very nicely!

Later in the evening Andrew carried several smoke bombs aloft with his Slow Stick. What a sight! Alvin helped him light the fuses...

Another fine flying day! :D

Actually, I use the easy way out. I use the AUTO setting!
I Do have other settings like High-speed Action, Shutter-preferred, Aperture-preferred, Manual, Program-mode and others.
I found that because I take so many pictures (100 to 200 per weekend), AUTO works best, because I can't ever remember which setting I used last.
I don't like to fiddle with the settings, because when I do, I miss the shot! :D

Not entirely true! I use that type IAA Lithium Polymer batteries in my computer's wireless mouse...
In both my cameras I use the rechargeable LiPo battery packs that came with them.
I can take 600 or so pictures on one charge. Fewer if I take some videos...

And WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? <_<
Why don't you try to make sense?...
Avistar 2 - February 11, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
Using rechargable batteris instead of spending money to replacing them.
Flying Dutchman - February 11, 2008 11:15 PM (GMT)
Again you are talking crap, Avistar2!
Both my cameras came with flat, square LiPo rechargeable battery packs. You CANNOT PUT other batteries in them. Get it? There is NO OTHER CHOICE.
Has nothing to do with being cheap. The LiPo packs are more expensive!
Don't talk about stuff you do not understand or know about!
Now where have I heard that before??? <_<
Avistar 2 - February 11, 2008 11:23 PM (GMT)
