I could only watch the video halfway through...

The cameraman caused me to have a severe case of motion sickness...

Avistar 2 - February 10, 2008 02:53 PM (GMT)
 Say what you get motion sickness Flying dutchman,
But you fly RC helis and planes.

That's correct!

But I'm not in them, nor inside that video camera...

Than U-control line airplanes are out the question for you.
U-control line control airplanes will make you dizzy.

Flying Dutchman - February 11, 2008 12:27 AM (GMT)
U-control... Oh yeah, that came after free flight, when planes just flew away, never to be seen again... So they came up with U-control, where you keep your airplane tethered to strings so it doesn't fly farther than 75 ft. away...

You DO know we have gadgets now that allow us to control our airplanes and fly them hundreds of feet away from us?

And rather than just fly around yourself (making yourself dizzy... ) you can actually fly it away from you and BACK TO YOU!...

Ain't progress great?...

(At least for most of us...)

Hey You might know about this one,
But the Miltary and law inforcments have these one RC Planes that fly way beyond our RC limts
the intruder is big strage looking rc plane that flies in the front line while our troops control it from the us or where ever they are.
the law inforcment has the one rc plane that can fly over a 20 miles in city limts.

:( Yeah you heard of it already.
well it's just recycled old news Flying Dutchman. :D

Note Flying Dutchman Hey You might know about this one,

I may be old, but I DO keep up with the world of science, technology, space and computers. Always have, since I was a teenager...

I think you are now talking about autonomous radio controlled drones, or UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) — I THINK... :o

Avistar 2 - February 11, 2008 05:50 PM (GMT)
Yes, indeed
does it work the same as RC planes?

Flying Dutchman - February 11, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
Well, not exactly...

UAVs (like the Predator) can be controlled by an operator on the ground who is looking at the video of what the UAV's cameras see and he can control the UAV's trajectory and even launch a missile from it. (This was used in Iraq.)

Or the UAV can be preprogrammed and guided by GPS satellites to its target. That's the autonomous mode of operation. Is done with model helicopters, too.

Ain't science grand? :D

Flying Dutchman - February 11, 2008 08:22 PM (GMT)
Yes!
We finally understand each other!

Now I misunderstand you again.
There are more dropouts in your posts than in my first cell phone... <_<

Did you mean to say "You can BUILD an RC model of the predator drone plane."?

Why would a club frown on that? It's been done many times already at other clubs.

No one is going to build an EXACT WORKING COPY of it... After all, it's 27 ft. long with a 49 ft. wingspan, and costs more than 40 million dollars...

Not on my budget... :D

Avistar 2 - February 11, 2008 10:34 PM (GMT)
Oh, Well I seen Hobbico or the other electric RC plane complay made a RC model of that plane, it could be FLYZONE that sells it, it's a electric flying model.
