Title: Home needed for 40 four stroke
Description: plane wanted for 40 four stroke

ICEMAN - January 18, 2008 04:45 AM (GMT)
Hey folks, I need some suggetions. I have a good running 40 four stroke that my brother gave to me. I'm looking for a plane, but there aren't that many for this size motor. I was thinking about converting an electric plane, since most of the smaller planes are electric. Any ideas would be appreciated.

The Greatplanes Venus 40 would be my first choice. It is a great flying pattern plane. The price isnt to bad either... :D

I think a .40 4 stroke is a little, well, little for a Venus 40. Which brand motor is it? The only thing I can remember around that size was the .48 OS used to make. I think it was a .48. I like the idea of converting one of the nicer new electric planes they have out. Maybe something like the e-flite T-6 Texan or the little crop dusting plane they have. Not sure of exactly how big either of those are though.

Wow I am sorry I glanced at the post and noticed 40 and thought he ment a 40 sized plane...My bad....

It's a OS Max FS 40. It doesn't say surpass on the box. It was locked up, but I unfroze it, and to my surprise it runs great.

Alvin, Would you have any hard feelings if I got a Sonic? How do you think this engine and plane combination would perform?

Mike, I do like the Texan idea as well.

Either of those two would be perfect for that motor.

Also check out the e-flite pitts. All these planes are .15 size,
so that 40fs should fly them extremely well.

E-Flite has a lot of cool planes. I over looked that brand.

That would be just about the right power for the Sonic.
You could call it the Super Sonic.

The Sonic engine mount is adjustable width wise and might be long enough to accept the four stroke engine.
I don't see any other problems with mounting it.
The bigger prop might have ground clearance issue, but think it will work or you could use little bigger wheels.

I think I have the Sonic engine mount still in my truck.
Bring engine to field and we see if it fits.

That sounds cool!

That is the 4-stroke that you brought to the field this weekend huh?

Johnny, Yep, thats the engine. I just discovered that one of the .049 engines that you gave me has a glow plug conversion. Thanks, that will make things easier!
Do you remember what size glow plug? After you left the wind settled down and I got 3 good flights on my 1/2A plane.
