Russell flying Tigers - January 5, 2008 02:18 AM (GMT)
I finally got the new electronic module for the H9-1/4 scale cub and made some changes. The cub now has a battery hatch just in back of the firewall and this is where I put the module and also located the battery for the engine. This past Monday or Tuesday I took the cub the the field and Fritz and I did range checks to see if there is any glitches. I had a non-glitch day but found out that the tail wheel was not working with the rudder. I have ordered a sig 1/4 tail wheel kit for it and that should resolve that problem. The next phase is to instal a pcm reciever in it. And then a maybe a test flight.

Why was the tail wheel not working with the rudder?

Sounds like someone is putting off the Cub flight.

At this rate, Tony is going to have his Cub flying before the Russell Cub is flying again. :P

At this rate I'll have a full scale Cub before Russell has a flying Cub. And I don't plan to settle for Cub until I'm at least 75. B)

I was thinking of getting a Cub, but they seem like too much trouble to get in the air. How much time and effort have you spent Russell working on your Cub? How many flights has the Cub seen?

Russell flying Tigers - January 5, 2008 03:12 AM (GMT)
The H9 1/4 scale cub has a problem with the electronic module and would glitch so I had to wait to get the new module. The plane has had 1 flight. The tail wheel was poorly made and a aftermarket tail wheel kit will resolve that problem. There is 2 or 3 H9 cubs at the field and mine is the plug and play version. Nots so ready to fly as led to believe. As for flight performance -the other 2 cubs fly great (after all it a cub).

Model Cubs are trickie, always have been.

There it sits, all yellow and innocent. <_<

Looks like the ultimate trainer plane.

Ant so, they fly quirkie.

Hey Tony, what's all the flaming butts and head bangers about?
Your Cub windows fall out?

This morning, while enjoying a fine breakfast at D|ck Russell's, Tony was lamenting about the trouble getting to things in the Cub, about the hatch, about the time it takes to put on the struts, that he had to take the cowl off AGAIN, etc...

All this AFTER Mr. Boo had laid his hands on the Cub and given it his blessings...

By the way - Russell promised me that his Cub would fly this weekend...
I'm not sure he's still talking to Mr. Boo... :D

CUBS! <_<

For those of you who think Cubs are sooo complicated and hard to make work, how about something a little bit more intricate? (This video compliments of Elton Sullivan.)
