Title: Russell first crash
Description: Crash report
Russell flying Tigers - December 11, 2007 01:51 AM (GMT)
Monday at 4:45 after Tommy and myself checked and recheck the pulse xt, she was ready to fly. Well it did, I lifted off from the runway ok after several taxi to get used to a taildragger. Then banked nicely to the left and flew ok then a nice bank again to the left in a oval pattern and then trouble happened. The plane went upside down and I leveled the plane and rolled it back over ( rightside up) and it took a nose dive right into the ground. I had no up elevator responce at all. Found the plane and had to dig out of the ground the engine. The engine was dirty but ok. The plane was not so lucky it shattered into a million pieces of balsa wood. It will make a great fire. It died flying so what can I say. Tommy looked at me and all I would say is next. It was really cool. I should crash more often. I took the plane home and totally check it over and stripped it. Check reciever and servos. I held the antenna wire the servos would go off and on. I have a bad reciever so it might be why the plane crasjed? :yickes: :embarrassed: Well thats my day at the field. Tommarrow I'll go to the hobbyshop and buy another plane-well maybe ??

Dang Russel! :o
You are taking it well!
Now you can join the crash team!
Most all of us are members! Fritz is our leader!
Only because he has the maneuver named after him!
KADET KID - December 11, 2007 03:29 AM (GMT)
receiver failure vs pilot error, When you had the plane inverted, did you press down on the elevator control?
Fying RC ain't easy! I'm new at the hobby and I have done that before! Think about how many crashes you would have had, without all of the instruction and help from members in our club, crashing isn't cool  being in complete control and putting a plane through it's paces is cooooooool!!!!!!

 Too bad, too sad Russell.
I hate it for you, but you have had a very long lucky streak.
Now just think, what if it had been a B-17 bomber nitro plane.
Was it a new reciever? Might have been a radio problem or the reciever could have been damaged in the crash. Sounds like it hit hard.
Maybe you would like one of those little eletric stick planes all lit up for night flying like Don and others have.

Russell, you are not alone. I crashed 2 this week (1 receiver failure, 1 pilot failure). P.S. I say go for the B-17  Mike

KADET KID has said what I hesitated to mention, 'cause I didn't want to hurt Russell's feelings...
The KID already knows that pilot error is the most often cause of a crash, especially with inexperienced pilots.
And new equipment that has never been crashed just doesn't fail...
In my eighteen years of flying I have seen many pilots actually convince themselves that their equipment broke and caused them to crash, or they got a glitch... Yeah, right! Yes, even the North End is not immune to this sort of thinking! <_<
But then, the Irvington Triangle may have been acting up due to a combination of higher humidity and more electrical activity in the air because of the seemingly increased use of outdoor Christmas lights... I'm just saying...
Oh, I forgot to mention, Russell — welcome to RC! Don't you just LOOOOVE it?
Watch your thumbs! Sometimes UP is
Sometimes DOWN is
