Title: I Want A Cub
Description: what kind?

TONY F - November 12, 2007 10:26 PM (GMT)
Hello, my name is Tony and I have a problem, been bit by the cub virus.

I want a Cub.
Between the Hangar 9 .40 size ARTF Cub and the Great Planes .40 size ARTF, which one do you all think is the best?

I figure to put a OS .70 four stroke on it.

I would apreciate any advice and help with my decision.

I really had more fun with flying Mr. Don's Hangar 9 Cub than I have had with any of my airplanes or chopper in a long long time.
Must be getting old and wanting more acceptance at the northpit area.
They would take me more serious with a cub, just like Russell.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

A Cub!!! A few weeks back you said you were looking for a, Go Fast Plane :o

Well, I think the Cub is a better choice

The Great Planes Cub is covered with Woven cloth fabric...
The Hanger 9 is covered with Ultra Cote......

I don't know how easy that Woven cloth stuff is to repair ..

Not that I am saying that you are going to crash it  But it seams like I get more hanger rash dinks in mine. And Ultua Cote is easy to fix

Both planes look good, and cost the same. If it was me, I think I would pick the Hanger 9 with Ultra Cote. I know I can fix that

Maby someone will come in and tell us something about the Woven Cloth..........

You've been contaminated all right!
No, you've gone pure loco. (Ask Carlos what that means...) <_< :D

If I ever start taking about getting a Cub, you and anyone else have my permission to kick my a$$... No, seriously, I insist...

Frits must have fallen asleep one day watching a cub fly, and fell off his chair and spilled his beer, so now he is mad at cubs :D Thats the only thing it could be  We know he likes to fly  And he can fly anything with wings  In fact, I think I seen him fly a plane farther, with out it's wing one day, when it came off in flight

Yep!! it's got to be the beer thing ;) :P

Mike - November 13, 2007 05:47 AM (GMT)
Frits, for you to get a Cub would require you to get one of your own planes in the air, and we all know how much trouble that is for you. It's perfectly understandable that you wouldn't want to tackle the challenge of getting something new ready to fly. ;) :D

Tony, I'd go with the Great Planes fabric covered Cub. If I were in the market for a 40-size Cub, that'd be the winner.

alvinonline - November 13, 2007 06:38 AM (GMT)
One thing that Tony did not mention was the fact that one of the cubs is two piece wing and the other is one piece wing.
With the wingspan being about 80 inches on both cubs, Tony was measuring his truck to see if the one piece wing cub would fit inside the cab.
The one piece would not fit without sticking the wing tip out the window, not an option.

I told him that it was about time to give up on the desire to have a young man's looking truck with the open bed and toolbox, and just put a nice shell on bed and haul it back there. Tony not going to go for that idea.

He is considering hauling it in back of truck with some plastic sheet and sandbags handy for rainy weather transport. That is if he goes with the one piece wing.

Everyone, please help him decide, he seems to really really really want a cub.

I belive it is great planes that makes a realy nice 40 size that is fabric covered, and comes with the proper wheels, decals, and i belive it comes with a pilot figure to... It is SUPER nice, but Tony, it is still just a cub...

4star40 - November 13, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
TONY!

Just get a senior telemaster... it is the bestest aircraft I ever flown.

Mike - November 13, 2007 07:26 PM (GMT)
But L.T., did you ever fly a Cub?

4star40 - November 13, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
No, the telemaster was that good. I flew one on the stimulator, does that count?

KADET KID - November 14, 2007 05:18 AM (GMT)
Tony, Check out the Goldberg Cub ARF on the Tower Hobbies website. They have a red, white, and blue version for $150, plus a $15 discount.

Thanks for all the help and advice I still have not made up my mine.

Normally, one would console another when being inflicted with a virus, but on this occasion I have to say, "Congratulations!". Now Man Up and build a KIT Cub! :D Just kidding. I think the H9 Cub looks real nice, but the Fabric Cub is a more scale finish if that matters.

Mike - November 15, 2007 07:30 PM (GMT)
Well Tony? What have you decided?

Mike, I have not decided. I like the fabric on great planes  but I do not like the one piece wing. May have to go with hangar 9 to fit in my truck. <_<

I don't think that Tony really wants a Cub, a turbine jet would be more his speed. :newstuff:

Tony, Alvin is right. The Hanger 9 Cub has a 2 piece main wing and the Great planes has a one piece main wing. I have looked at both manuals online and there is some magor differences between the too. Besides the wings the great planes has wire landing gear and wood cabana struts for the main wings and the Hanger 9 cub has the same bungee landing gear like the 1/4 scale cub and has alum. cabanna struts and has a better way of installing them with pins and clips. The only thing that the Great planes has that is great is the fabric covering. The Hanger 9 has a two piece main wing that is a lot easier to transport and will sustain less damage in transportation. You can always change out the ultracote covering on the Hanger 9 cub at a later time and go to a fabric covering and maybe change the color too. Another option which would be a savings in cost would be to purchase a World Models cub. They have both full wing and clipped wing versions. These ARFS are the same as contructions goes like the Great planes cub. World models have a 1/4 scale cub around $350.00. The 40 size is around $139.00. There is another option but you have to talk to me at the field in person.

Russell, you make things SO complicated!
Just get one (if you MUST have a Cub) and get it in the air!

I see you had several people working on your Pulse today. Do you think it wil fly soon? <_<

(Jade had it flying, if I recall... As a matter of fact. I even flew it, I think...)

GET IT IN THE AIR, RUSSELL!!!

Well, if it's a good plane to begin with, then there should be no time spent agonizing over it... :D

And Russell doesn't seem to enjoy his new planes... But maybe that's just me...

He DID fly his Ugly Stick successfully this weekend.
