Title: Club Meeting

Mustangman - October 2, 2007 12:06 AM (GMT)
Barnhill closed so it looks like we will have the next meeting at the field :yickes:

jday - October 2, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
Thats a shocker...
The assistant manager of the Golden Corral at Tillmans Corner has offered to let us use their meeting room. I was talking to him several weeks ago when he made this offer. I told him that everyone was happy with Barnhills at that time. I told him about the problem we had at Fire Mountain and he said that would not happen.
No, Alvin...I will not attend meetings at Hooters.
I wonder where Ruby went.

Russell flying Tigers - October 2, 2007 01:16 AM (GMT)
Did I read right? Barnhills is closed????? Is this closed for remodeling ?? Or closed-as in out of business?

Out of BUSINESS Russell.

Russell flying Tigers - October 2, 2007 01:35 AM (GMT)
Thanks Tony, So we need to find a new place!

Lester - October 2, 2007 02:47 AM (GMT)
I like Hooters, but did not know that Alvin was a big fan also.
Only see him in there a couple of times a month.

How about the El Toro mexican place in Tillmans Corner?
Tuesday is dollar Margarita day and the Karokie room prob be available.
We could gather across the street at Tony's AutoSave Tire store and then go to meeting.

Would be a swinging good meeting.
Ruthie might follow us there.

Robert S. - October 2, 2007 03:28 PM (GMT)
:spin: I can bring some hamburgers if ya'll want to cook out before the meeting???

This is good but I like Tillmans Corner better.

I just talked to Mr. Frank Prescott at Golden Corral , Tillmans Corner, Oct. 2
He said that he would love to have us every second tuesday including Oct. 9.
Prices will be reduced to same as Barnhills and free drinks for all including those that attend only the meeting. I think that the prices were something like 8.75 senior and 9.75 regular. He is off on Thursdays and Fridays but anyone can book meeting. All arrangments are guaranteed by him.

Okay, here's how our club (Azalea City Model Aeronautics) works...

The next meeting (Oct. 9), has already been set to be AT OUR FLYING FIELD . This was decided by ACMA club President Andy and Vice President Tony. I have already notified all club members and prospective members of that decision by sending emails and letters out to them.

Just remember that this Forum — as nice as it is  — is NOT the official means of communications with all 102 members in our club. As near as I can figure out, about fifteen ACMA club members are regular Forum visitors and perhaps there are about ten more lurkers (those who don't show their "faces", but occasionally just peep around the corner to see if anyone is talking about them... )

Sorry to disappoint you, but the official person to communicate any news or event to the ACMA membersip is MOI (me!). Yep, yours truly! It's my job! And I do it all by email and regular US mail. It's because I am the ONLY one who has the e-addresses, home addresses and telephone numbers of all club members.

If you have any suggestions for a "permanent" change to a local restaurant, please bring up your suggestions with all the gory details at this next meeting, because as in all clubs and organizations, decisions are made by members who attend the meetings.

So bring your recommendations to the meeting Tuesday, October 9, at 7:00 PM, at our flying field, and we'll talk about them and sort them out... Then we'll decide...

:D

Don Koval - October 2, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
Yes we know how it works Frits, :)

Were are just checking things out so we will have some places to decide on.

And on the 102 members in the club, we will be lucky if 12 come to the meeting.

I don't think anyone on the forum is trying to make any decisions, because we know this is not the place to do it. WE are just kicking things around

alvinonline - October 2, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
This forum is an excellent tool for kicking ideas around.
One of the main reasons it was established.
Thanks for everyones participation.

We have 52 forum members who are current or recent past ACMA members and who have made at least 5 forum posts which indicates some minimum level of forum participation.

Plus the ACMA/Forum members who lurk or have not made five posts yet.
And I am sure there must be ACMA members who read the forum, but have never joined forum.

Billyfrost - October 3, 2007 01:26 PM (GMT)
I like having meetings at the field. I think there are always more people available on any given weekend than any other time. There are more prospective members, and you can fly before/after the meeting. My $.02.

jonkoppisch - October 3, 2007 01:27 PM (GMT)
If you want more members and to meet at the field then sunday around 1 would be the ideal day!!!

added: or if it's to hot, 4pm... I would actually attend meetings ;)

Osirus711 - October 3, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
I like Don's location (Much closer then Tillman's) or Jon's Sunday idea.....

jonkoppisch - October 3, 2007 02:38 PM (GMT)
The old club that I belonged to used to have Sunday meetings. It was the best way to get everyone together..

For some reason I don't think there would get much 'meeting' done... :P

Flying Dutchman - October 3, 2007 05:03 PM (GMT)
I LOVE those nice, big hooter..., ummm, grouper sandwiches there...

jade taylor - October 4, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
i think billy and jon's idea is great  it would make it so more people can get involved

alvinonline - October 4, 2007 02:23 AM (GMT)
I prefer that our regular scheduled club meetings are on a non-weekend night and not at field.

Because:
It is hard to get flying/engine running stopped for meeting and takes away from flying time.

It will be either very hot or cold/windy most months of the year.

Very Bad weather would limit or curtail attendance as compared to in town enclosed meeting room.

I like meeting in airconditioned (well, most of time) room and plenty good food at hand.

:D I don't think that this would be a permanent solution for sure.... I do think it would be nice to maybe have some new members participate that can't make a dedicated trip threw the week... I think Alvin just misses the eye candy!!! ;)

Eye Candy is nice and I also get my Slot Machine Fix with those "Try To Grab A Prize For Fifty Cents" machines. B)

If none of our members objected (I am sure some prob do) Tuesdays are Dollar Margarita night at local Mexican Restaurants. :hyper:

jonkoppisch - October 4, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
Either way is good... I confess that the only way I'll probably ever come to a meeting is if it's at the field when I'm usually there. I usually don't run out in the evenings and don't spend the gas to get across town.... B)

TJR - October 4, 2007 05:57 PM (GMT)
because of my schedule, I can't make any Tuesday meetings.

Don Koval - October 4, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
I don't know if we should have the meeting at the field :o

To many members would come, and the meeting would take longer then 12 min :P

I don't know why some members even come. Thay wan't to get it over with as fast as thay can

I think we should have a meeting twice a month

It sounds like J.C. has a good deal going. :)

Mike - October 4, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
Two 6 minute meetings instead of one 12 minute one?

I'll bet I could find a place here in Macon for us to meet. Y'all don't mind a little drive to you?

jonkoppisch - October 5, 2007 11:08 PM (GMT)
If it's on tuesday, it might as well be ;) :D :D

TONY F - October 6, 2007 12:43 AM (GMT)

alvinonline - October 7, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)

Here is a often repeated scene from inside the "El Toro" in Tillmans Corner just to give yawl an idea of how nice it is.
