Title: Thursday RC Flying
Description: at Irvington Field.
alvinonline - August 17, 2007 03:01 AM (GMT)
Was down at Irvington Field Thursday afternoon.
Kenny showed up and ate some fine Fried Onion Rings that he got from Chester Chicken place. He got a real good deal, have to ask him.

Next to show was Russell. Russell has soloed now and flying on his own. Completely unassisted, he tookoff, flew around doing loops & rolls, touch & go, and a landing.
Very good Russell.

Last to come out was Robert showing off his largest watermellon from his garden. Said it weighed in at around seventy pounds.

Robert also showed his latest experiments.
Here is a rocket powered delta wing glider plane.

And the Triple Beast coro plane now has three engines.
I think I heard Robert say that it will test fly the weekend after next.

And here is what must be the actual flight crew.

Thats the best picture of me in years. Maybe I should have a face lift and dye my hair brown????? But one thing bothers me,I know I left my brothers and sister up north but how did a look alike end up in this picture. If I remember correctly none of my brothers look like me. :banghead: :banghead: :hysterical: :hysterical:

| Tony, What about frits????????????????????????????? |
Yeah, I know...
You spend your valuable time with them, boil in the hot sun, teach them the basics, and what do they do? Solo with some clandestine fly-by-night instructor after he gets a hold of them and convinces them they are the best there ever was...
Congratulations, Russel — I hope all your future flying endeavors will go well... <_<
This reminds me again that I need to seriously think about retiring from this instructor position...
(Don't worry Todd and Bill, I'll make sure you two solo first. Unless, of course, you also want to team up with that Alvin guy...) <_<
Bill - August 18, 2007 03:24 AM (GMT)
Frits...you didn't hear?
Alvin took only one lesson and a few minutes later I went up for my first solo. :D
Alvin rocks !!!!!
:roflmao:

I trust your teaching methods Frits. I only wish that I was able to make out to the field on a more frequent basis. I will be there Sunday, maybe a solo flight will be in my near future. I'm sure Alvin is a good teacher as well.

That's great, Tony! I'll tell president Andy to put Alvin in as "Advanced" instructor and have him take my name off the already-very-short instructor list... :fuming:
And you can be Alvin's ASSistant... <_<
alvinonline - August 18, 2007 04:59 PM (GMT)
Hey, yawl leave Frits alone.
He has the stamina and patience for the great job that he does with all the new members getting them off on the right foot.
I could never hold up under the pressure and would not last very long.
   :boxers: :pirate: :spin:

Oh, enough of the flowery mumbo jumbo... <_<
It doesn't take long to get a student to SOLO...
It takes much longer to teach them how to FLY an airplane...
I went to the field this afternoon and saw the recently-soloed Mr. Russell Ward. He was piddling with both his airplanes, but I never never saw him fly anything.
Perhaps I'll see Mr. Ward fly solo soon?...
Best of luck, Mr. Ward... <_<

 Here's Alvins training lesson!
1.-Get plane in the air for student.
2.-Let student try to fly.
3.-When student seems to be able to, walk away and let student land on his lonesome.
Seems cruel but it worked for me.
There were no training boxes then! :yickes:
The students appreciate the system with your help, I'm sure, Fritz!
Don't give up now!

Yeah, I say your flight with the NexSTAR Saturday and the precarious landing(s)... :yickes:
Does Alvin offer a refresher course?
I think one could help you... :D
Johnny_J - August 20, 2007 02:37 AM (GMT)
I didn't think it was so bad for about 5 years off the sticks and the radio was not set up to work quite like I thought it was!
Plus I didn't ask for help setting it up. :P
And the fact is it's still in one piece!
Maybe I need to join your program, heh! :fullmoon:
