Been hearing this advertized on the radio. Where is this airport located? Is it on the "other side" of Fairhope on 98?

It looks like it is going to be a great fly-in.

You guys planning on going Saturday or Sunday? I think I'll go Saturday as that's when they'll be doing the F-16 flyover.
Also, who's doing the R/C demos?

Sunday's combat so....
I believe Rob is flying a jet, not sure about who else... I may if I get mine tested in time...

I think my G/F and I are going on Saturday. More great photo ops!

Sad news, but not tragic. Bobby Grice crashed his Alley Cat Biplane today at the Airshow. Fortunately, he was able to walk away from it. I'm sure he'll have some aches and pains later, but he did walk away under his own power. I won't speculate as to what happened, but he was pulling through the bottom of a loop when it happened. He was very lucky. The remainder of the Airshow was suspended for the day while the FAA investigates.

Hmmm... I was about to call his brother Philip to see if the he and the other Roy E. Ray pilots can do a fly-over during the Jamboree Fly-in...
Perhaps not a good time to ask... I'll wait a couple of days... :(

Thank goodness he walked away!!!! It was quite a 'plop'... After they cleaned everything up they continued on with the airshow...

Wow, a picture really is worth a thousand words. Nice shot TJ.
The rest of the airshow, although delayed, was excellent. Can't even describe the feeling that four F-16s in full afterburner gave me.

When the accident first happened, I got an empty feeling in the pit of my stomach. Although I don't know Bobby real well, I've met and have known all of the Grice brothers for several years from my work at the airport in Pascagoula. I was very relieved when I saw him walk away from it. Of all the similar accidents I've read about, they usually end in a fatality. If they rebuild another "Alley Cat" maybe he should consider naming it "8 Left".

I'm guessing it's similar to the feeling I get when one B-1 flies over in AB. :hyper:

I didn't take any photos of the static displays. I've got similar yak shots on the line, and some formation shots. I didn't like the formation shots so much just because they're the bottom of the formation. If you ask me, they were kinda boring! I'm still editing some of my shots, but I'll post the address for all of my photos on

OMG!!! What a video!!! Can you believe that Robby walked away???? WOW!!!!
TJR - May 26, 2007 11:54 AM (GMT)
The man you see running in the video is Dickie Toups, one of his best friends. Dickie also survived a crash many years ago and suffered severe burns on both legs. He says Robby is the only person he knows besides himself to survive a crash.
